Report on the uplifting Shabbos in our holy kehilla of Boro Park #3

Remember the Ahavas Kadumim

At around 1:00 the Rebbe entered the "Seudas Atika Kadisha" in the Heichal HaKollel together with over 300 of the elder members of the community, the "Ahavas Kadumim members," residents of Boro Park. Present were the Rav of our kehilla 15 shlit"a, our teacher HaGaon the Av Beis Din of the holy community and Rosh Yeshiva shlit"a, HaGaon the Dayan of our kehilla in Boro Park shlit"a, and other distinguished rabbanim. In the middle of the seudah, HaGaon the Av Beis Din of our kehilla in Boro Park shlit"a arrived. At the beginning of the seudah, R' Hirtzka Klein shlit"a, director of Hisachdus Avreichim, spoke. Afterwards HaGaon R' Tzvi Elimelech Teitelbaum, Rav of our beis medrash Tefilla L'Moshe in Boro Park and leader of the Ahavas Kadumim group, spoke, and he related memories of the holy Rebbe, zy"a. During the seudah the Rebbe honored the chazzanim "the Weiss brothers" – R' Shlomo, R' Hershel, R' Yisroel Yaakov, prominent members of Ahavas Kadumim – to sing a niggun from earlier times that was sung by the holy Rebbe zy"a, set to the zemer Baruch Kel Elyon. Afterwards HaGaon the Av Beis Din of Zbuy shlit"a, leader of the Ahavas Kadumim group, spoke. After singing "Chai Hashem," those present merited to hear the Rebbe answer questions put forward by the Zbuy Rav, HaGaon R' Bentzion Katz, on matters of hashkafa and guidance, which continued in a pleasant conversation for over an hour. Among the questions, the Rebbe spoke strongly about the warmth that grandfathers must pass on and instill in the grandchildren, and about giving mussar to the children and grandchildren. Likewise regarding the names of the grandchildren – let the parents choose a name themselves (except when advice is requested). He also spoke strongly about the problem of sending boys to outside yeshivos, which has today become like a business, where people seek to be a "fiery, pleasant" ... and as soon as the bochur turns 18/19 they show him the door! Then there is no choice but to travel to Eretz Yisroel, the danger of which is "terribly great," as the Rebbe expressed it: "As much as the Uncle fought against this in those days, he would have fought much more against it in our times." He then brought out the changes for the better in recent years in learning Torah, which is much better today than before, and spoke about rising early in the morning, that one must try to go to sleep early and wake up early. He mentioned that at 6:00 in the morning the huge Heichal HaTorah in Kiryas Joel is already filled with those learning Torah!! In addition, a greeting was heard from one of the distinguished elders of our community that at 5:30 in the morning nearly every seat is taken in the Heichal HaTorah "Beis Chai" in our great beis medrash in Boro Park, along with many more answers on hashkafa.
"Baruch Hashem Yom Yom": the elder R' Gedalya Yermiash; "Baruch Kel Elyon": R' Aharon Weltz, director of the mosdos. The Rebbe honored R' Chaim Stern to sing "Yom Zeh Mechubad." Afterwards the Rebbe delivered a lengthy discourse of divrei Torah, chizuk and guidance, and brought out that everyone sitting here must give praise and thanks to Hashem, especially after the difficult years that have passed. He urged them to come specifically to the beis medrash to learn and not by telephone, to stay fresh and not, chas v'shalom, give up, to be active and involved in communal work – such as going to collect money – and to influence the children and grandchildren: "A grandfather has a greater power over the grandchildren than the father himself." He bestowed abundant blessings. For Birkas Hamazon the Rebbe honored his brother, the Rav of our kehilla 15 shlit"a. It concluded at around 4:00.
