On Erev Shabbos afternoon the Rebbe shlit"a put the shtreimel on the chassan Moshe Ber, son of R' Akiva Yosef Neustadt.
On Friday night at around 8:40 the Rebbe shlit"a entered the beis medrash wrapped in his tallis and approached the amud for Mincha. Kabbalas Shabbos: HaGaon R' Elazar Mendel Filaf shlit"a, and after Maariv the Rebbe approached the amud for Sefirah.
Davening ended at around 10:15. The crowd went over to wish a good Shabbos and to greet the Rebbe, and the Rebbe shlit"a went into his private room.
A short time after davening, the Rebbe shlit"a entered the Shabbos table in the Hillman building beis medrash, in Heichal Tehillas Yehosef, together with the talmidim of Shiur Gimmel of the branches of the Yeshivos Ketanos, and began, as is his holy custom, "Shalom Aleichem" with feeling and sweetness.
Before the fish the Rebbe said a Torah thought on the verse "Im bechukosai teileichu," and explained that with Torah, the more one learns, the more one senses its sweetness, unlike other pleasures of this world. He invited the bochurim to a special learning seder of 2 hours on the second day of Shavuos in the Beis Medrash HaGadol, which will be the proper preparation for Kabbalas HaTorah, as we rule, "On the day Torah was given" (the second day of Shavuos).
Before the soup the Rebbe again said a Torah thought and urged a return to learning when the bochurim travel away for the summer to the camps.

In the afternoon at around 7:15 the Rebbe shlit"a entered for the Pirkei Avos shiur in our great beis medrash. The Rebbe focused on Perek 5, Mishnah 6, "Ten things were created on Erev Shabbos at twilight," and explained several approaches by way of derush on the matter of whether following the majority is certain or a doubt, "yesh em l'mikra," and a doubt in a Torah law is ruled according to Torah law. Then, by way of aggadah and mussar, he spoke about preparing for a mitzvah, especially for Shabbos and Yom Tov, particularly now before Yom Tov of Shavuos, that one should conduct himself like proper Jews of old. He also asked the baalei batim to join the learning seder on the second day of Shavuos in the morning, which will be a true preparation for Ahavah Rabbah. He urged that people look after the chinuch of their children, not to send them to work in unsuitable places for more money, to dress them in proper clothing, and not to neglect the preparations during the summer weeks but on the contrary to increase in Torah learning. He mentioned the decrees against chinuch, saying we need Heavenly mercy, and concluded with his holy blessings to all the assembled people. It ended at around 8:20.

The Rebbe wrote in the letters, and a longer conversation developed with R' Chaim Yehoshua and his family, may they live, with memories from days of old. Then the Rebbe drank lechayim and warmly blessed R' Chaim Yehoshua and the whole family. From there the Rebbe shlit"a traveled home to his holy residence in Kiryas Joel.
