In the afternoon at 7:00 the Rebbe shlit"a entered the main beis medrash for Pirkei Avos. The Rebbe took up the Mishnah in perek 1, mishnah 7, "Harchek mishachein ra'ah v'al tischaber l'rasha," and explained it in several ways in the manner of derush, on the topic of whether mitzvos require intent, the disgrace of associating with the wicked, the praise of cleaving to honest Jews, and the importance of every Jew. At the end he spoke forcefully about the greatness of conducting oneself according to the customs of Yisroel, and brought out that the stumbling blocks that occurred this past Pesach, and such things that occur every year, come from not conducting ourselves as in the past; we must uphold the custom of our fathers not to mix on Pesach. He also urged people to remain living among honest Jews in Kiryas Joel, and not to move out to the outlying areas if one does not know who the neighbors are. It finished at 8:10.
