Thursday, Parshas Acharei — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

Before davening, a bris took place for the newborn son of R' Zalman Leib Schwartz, at which the Rebbe served as sandek.

After the bris, HaRav HaChassid R' Shlomo Eliezer Glickman entered the inner chamber, the Rebbe's private room, where he showed the Rebbe shlit"a a Siddur HaShelah bearing a signature, which had belonged to the holy Chavos Daas zy"a, of whom the Rebbe is a descendant. The Rebbe examined the signature and looked through the siddur with great emotion, and with great arousal recited from the siddur the Leshem Yichud before putting on tefillin.

The Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in the main beis medrash. Before davening, the Rebbe put tefillin on the bar mitzvah bochurim:

The bochur Yoel Hirsch.
The bochur Yeshaya Yitzchak Rubin.

During the Torah reading, the Rebbe went up for Hagbah. After davening, a lechayim was held with the bar mitzvah bochurim in the hall of the beis medrash. Afterward the Rebbe walked home, and on the way a conversation developed about the Tzehlimer Rav zt"l, whose yahrzeit it was, and about various towns in the old country that were called by a name other than their real one, because the town had been named after an idol.

In the afternoon hours, the Rebbe shlit"a paid a condolence call by telephone to HaGaon Rabbi Ezriel Meir Kahn shlit"a, Av Beis Din of Sanjorge, on the passing of his daughter a"h, the wife of Rabbi Baruch Yekusiel shlit"a; to the family of the late R' Moshe Yechezkel Shraga Goldenberg a"h; and to R' Yaakov Pesach Hopfer and his family on the passing of his wife, their mother a"h.

In the evening, the Rebbe paid a condolence call to HaRav HaGaon R' Naftali Hersh Kahn shlit"a, a moreh tzedek in our holy kehilla, on the passing of his sister a"h; to the Roth family on the passing of their brother a"h; and to the Nawi family a"h on the passing of their mother a"h.

In the afternoon, by direction of the Rebbe shlit"a, drashos were held in all 9 branches of the yeshiva ketana of our holy mosdos in Kiryas Joel, on the severity of the sanctity of the cemetery, the resting place of our holy Rebbes zy"a. The talmidim of the yeshiva were urged in the future to conduct themselves with refined behavior toward their fellow man, and not to let themselves be dragged into any vulgar conduct by the few individuals who come looking for provocations, but rather to behave as befits the talmidim of our holy yeshivos.

In the evening, around 8:30, the Rebbe davened Mincha in his holy home at the Ohel, Kiryas Joel. Afterward there were times for entry to the inner chamber until 12:45 at night.

The Rebbe shlit"a read the tenaim in the tenaim hall of his holy home, between the mechutanim R' Eliezer Zusya Reis and R' Berel Rosenberg.

The Rebbe shlit"a davened Maariv around 12:45 in his holy home and approached the amud for the Sefirah count.
