New Project to Reduce Expenses: The Satmar Rebbetzin shlit"a
Distributes Blessed "Bracelets" to Esteemed Kallahs
With the Goal of Strengthening the Previous Takanah That Mechutanim Not Send Bracelets as Gifts to Kallahs

Kiryas Joel – Dozens of kallahs who became engaged in recent times were pleasantly surprised this past Erev Shabbos to receive the special gift sent to them by the esteemed Rebbetzin shlit"a: a beautiful bracelet with an engraved letter ה' as a segulah, blessed by the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a. It is arousing special interest among the dear kallahs, who are receiving it and wearing it adorned during the period after becoming a kallah, b'shaah tovah u'mutzlachas.
The Rebbetzin shlit"a has undertaken this special project of distributing bracelet gifts to the kallahs, with the goal of strengthening the Satmar wedding takanos to reduce expenses. Over the years the takanos have accomplished great and wondrous things, and have saved the public millions of dollars that would likely have been squandered on pointless expenses. All of this was saved thanks to the steadfast wedding takanos that were introduced by the holy directive of the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a.
Among the strong takanos that have been in place for many years is the takanah that mechutanim should keep to a set number of gifts that are sent, both what the kallah's side sends to the chosson and what the chosson's side sends to the kallah, which includes a set number of pieces of jewelry for the kallah.
One piece of jewelry that was removed entirely from the mechutanim's list under the takanos, as something to buy and send to kallahs, is a "bracelet." After thorough consideration, everyone understood that it is superfluous and bound up with needless and excessive expenses that are not necessary at all.
For many years the takanah was indeed very much in force. The vast majority of the public kept it, and among Satmar chassidim a bracelet was not at all part of the order of gifts sent to kallahs. Through this takanah alone, the public was saved millions of dollars over the years.
As with every good thing, over time a takanah tends to weaken, when some begin to break it, some for even justified one-time reasons and some without any justification, which later leads to the takanah, however important it may be, being broken and gradually eliminated entirely. Exactly this happened with the bracelets. Although a large part of the public still holds firmly to the takanah, it is evident that the takanah is not firm enough, and some already feel pressured to provide bracelets as part of the gifts sent to the kallah, even though they cannot afford not only the cost of the bracelet, but also many, many other, more important wedding expenses.
The state of the wedding takanos in general, and of the bracelets in particular, reached the ears of the Rebbetzin shlit"a, who is closely acquainted with the difficult financial situation in Jewish homes, being widely known for her far-reaching acts of tzedakah and chesed to help families who are, unfortunately, struggling. The Rebbetzin shlit"a is thus aware of how mechutanim are struggling terribly with the extraordinary wedding expenses that they cannot meet, and the Rebbetzin shlit"a seeks to do whatever is possible to ensure, b'ezras Hashem, the continued existence of the important bracelet takanah, that mechutanim should no longer give bracelets to kallahs during the period before the wedding.
Therefore the esteemed Rebbetzin shlit"a came up with this new project, to personally give each kallah a special gift, a bracelet of "Tenes," which is a very beautiful and splendid material. The very fact that the kallahs have already received such a beautiful bracelet as a gift upon becoming a kallah will, b'ezras Hashem, completely eliminate the need for the mechutanim to buy yet another bracelet as a gift for the kallah. It is hoped that this will, b'ezras Hashem, bring the esteemed mechutanim to fully accept the takanos and to keep firmly to this area as well, of not sending bracelets to kallahs themselves.
In order to provide the kallahs with an item that is equal for every person, with which every kallah can feel proud, the Rebbetzin shlit"a made certain that the bracelets are beautiful and appealing. In addition, the bracelets come with several other benefits: each bracelet has an engraved letter ה' on the underside, which is, as is well known, a tremendous segulah for protection and success. Furthermore, the Rebbetzin shlit"a arranged for the bracelets to be blessed by the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a with a blessing, protection and success for the kallahs, during the simcha and always.
Over the past days, at the end of the week, a number of esteemed kallahs who became kallahs in recent weeks, b'shaah tovah u'mutzlachas, received the beautiful gift, which was hand-delivered to each one at home, accompanied by a warm personal letter from the esteemed Rebbetzin shlit"a, with warm blessings and wishes in honor of the joyous moment of the new kallahs.
As has been heard in the last several days, the gift made a very strong impression on the kallahs who have already received it. Besides the beautiful gift itself, the lovely bracelet that looks so magnificent, the kallahs also feel privileged to wear the bracelets that carry the blessing of the leader of the kehilla, the Rebbe shlit"a, and bear the letter ה', which is such a tremendous segulah for blessing and success.
The Rebbetzin shlit"a's new initiative is drawing tremendous appreciation from mechutanim, mechutanestes and kallahs alike, who all wish the Rebbetzin shlit"a good, healthy, long and happy years, blessing and success in all her undertakings until the day of Moshiach, speedily.
In the previous days, since the new initiative went into effect, the Rebbetzin shlit"a first sent the new gift to the kallahs who became engaged in recent weeks, b'shaah tovah u'mutzlachas. The Rebbetzin shlit"a wishes to continue sending the gift also to those who became kallahs in previous months, kallahs who are still awaiting their wedding and did not receive a bracelet gift from their mechutanim.
At the request of the Rebbetzin shlit"a, a special number has been set up where one can call to leave the names of kallahs who are still awaiting their wedding and have not yet received a bracelet gift, and who look forward to receiving the bracelet gift from the Rebbetzin shlit"a. One may call the central number of our holy kehilla, at: 845-774-4040 #7-14, and IY"H it will be arranged in the best possible way.
It is certain that the Rebbetzin shlit"a's new initiative will be very helpful for the continued success of the takanos, and the kallahs together with their parents will accompany the Rebbetzin with warm blessings interwoven with feelings of gratitude for her noble deeds.
