Report
Monday, Tu BiShevat 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

At about 8:15 the Rebbe shlit"a entered for Shacharis in the local beis medrash. For the Torah reading the following were honored. Peticha: R' Chaim Halpert (Los Angeles); Kohen: R' Chaim Yitzchak Schwartz (Antwerp); Levi: R' Yuda Hersh Berger (Kiryas Joel). Shlishi: the Rebbe shlit"a; Hagbah: R' Baruch Fish (Kiryas Joel); Gelilah: R' Avrohom Yosef Ackerman (Kiryas Joel).

After davening the bochur Yaakov son of R' Chaim Zev Falkowitz presented the Rebbe shlit"a with an answer to the question the Rebbe had left over before leaving for a rest, after which the Rebbe walked back, during which a pleasant conversation took place about the topics and customs of Tu BiShevat, about the Sephardic custom of increasing in prayers and segulos, and about the custom of our holy Rebbes to eat fruits at the Shabbos daytime Kiddush.

In the late morning, at about 12:00, the Rebbe went for a walk in Neos Desha, where wonderful conversations took place about Torah thoughts and stories of tzaddikim, and about the persecutions that the gedolim of Hungary used to endure at home from the community leaders and townspeople.

In the afternoon the Rebbe shlit"a was visited at his holy residence by HaGaon Rabbi R' Moshe Peretz Schwartz shlit"a, Av Beis Din of Kehal Kol Aryeh in Lakewood. A pleasant conversation took place about the conduct of kehillos in the old country and today.

At 5:00 in the afternoon the Rebbe shlit"a entered for Mincha. After Mincha the Rebbe conducted a fruit tish in honor of Tu BiShevat. Several nigunim were sung, and the Rebbe tasted from the dates and from the esrog as is customary. Then the Rebbe drank lechayim and wished blessings of holiness to the public, delivered words of Torah on current matters, and distributed shirayim. It ended at about 6:00. At the time of Rabbeinu Tam Maariv was davened.
