At around 1:30 the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a entered the Heichal HaShulchanos for the first seudah. The one honored with holding the cup for Kiddush was HaRav Dovid T"B, son of the HaGaon HaKadosh, Av Beis Din of Sighet shlit"a.

At the sweet courses, the Rebbe distributed shirayim to the guests from abroad.

The Rebbe honored R' Efraim Fishel Kish (Boro Park) with leading the zemiros.

At the Torah, the Rebbe shlit"a expounded on the verse "On the eighth day, Atzeres shall it be for you," and explained that through the avodah of Shemini Atzeres, the tefillos of an entire year are elevated, so that they bring down all that is best.

Birkas Hamazon: his grandson HaRav Dovid T"B shlit"a. The seudah concluded at 2:30.

Shemini Atzeres morning, at around 11:10, the Rebbe shlit"a entered the beis medrash for Shacharis. Pesukei D'Zimra: HaGaon R' Yaakov Weiss shlit"a, one of the rabbanim of our kehilla in Monsey.

The Rebbe shlit"a approached the amud for Shacharis and Hallel as usual, and for the loud Shemoneh Esrei the Rebbe sent the HaGaon HaKadosh, Av Beis Din of Sighet shlit"a.

Before the Torah reading, a bris took place for the bochur Shimon Bren"h Fr"m.

Hotza'ah and hachnasah honors went to R' Dovid Eckstein and R' Avrohom Weider; the pesukei Shema Yisroel: R' Dovid Eckstein.

After his aliyah, the Rebbe shlit"a made a special Mi Sheberach for R' Meir Hirsch of Eretz Yisroel and the Kiryas Joel mosdos, "because he exerted himself in the mitzvah matter of paying the salaries of the kodesh workers before the Yom Tov at our holy mosdos, Mosdos Yatev Lev in Eretz Yisroel."

Because of the great crowding when people entered after Yizkor, the Rebbe went out to put on the kittel for the Tefillas Geshem even before Yizkor.

At around 2:30 he approached the amud and recited the prayer for rain, and then blessed with geshem with great hisorerus.

Pesicha for Geshem: R' Avrohom Brach (of Eretz Yisroel and Williamsburg). Kah was led by R' Yitzchak Ehrenfeld, and the opening of Ane'im Zemiros by R' Moshe Yitzchak Landau (Monsey).

After davening, the Rebbe shlit"a entered the sukkah for Kiddush as is customary, and tasted the foods "kindel" and "nant."

At the Torah, the Rebbe shlit"a expounded on the verse "On the eighth day, Atzeres shall it be for you": by conducting oneself with humility, one merits good bounty in material matters; the sukkah imparts da'as, and accordingly one is visited with humility and lowliness, which brings good bounty. The seudah concluded at 4:45.

At the afternoon tish in his holy home, the Rebbe honored his grandson HaRav Mordechai Yehuda Halberstam, son-in-law of the HaGaon HaKadosh, Av Beis Din of Sighet shlit"a, with the zemiros.

At the Torah, the Rebbe expounded on the line "Kah, zechus avos yagen aleinu": through the 15 seudos of Sukkos and Shemini Atzeres, one is saved from all trouble and distress.

In the afternoon at 6:45 the Rebbe shlit"a entered for Mincha. Baal tefillah: R' Chaim Hersh Gold (Williamsburg).

At around 7:15 the Rebbe shlit"a entered the great sukkah for the "farewell to the sukkah," and the Yom Tov melodies were sung.

R' Yosef Weiss, one of the gabbaim of the Chevra Kadisha, poured the Rebbe a lechayim; the Rebbe drank and blessed all of the Chevra Kadisha and the entire tzibur.

Before bein hashmashos, the Rebbe made a blessing and tasted the apples as is customary.

At the Torah, the Rebbe shlit"a expounded on the verse "In sukkos you shall dwell for seven days": the mitzvah of sukkah has within it the measure of a mikvah and purifies upon leaving like a mikvah, and brings spiritual bounty into the home for an entire year.

Afterwards, the Rebbe distributed and threw apples to the entire holy kahal as is customary, and then recited the prayer upon leaving the sukkah and, in a ringing voice, declared "Next year in Yerushalayim." Immediately afterwards he broke out into a dance with the joy of a mitzvah, and went out of the sukkah in holy dancing, leaning on his sons the HaGaon HaKadosh, Av Beis Din of Williamsburg shlit"a and the HaGaon HaKadosh, Av Beis Din of Sighet shlit"a, and danced into the beis medrash and then around the beis medrash several times. Afterwards the Rebbe went up to the bimah, where the dancing continued, and at the end he wished a good Yom Tov to the entire holy kahal. It concluded at about 8:30.
