Motzei Shabbos – the night of 4 Chol HaMoed – Ushpizin of Yosef HaTzaddik

The Satmar Rebbe shlit"a entered for the set table in honor of the Ushpizin and the Simchas Beis HaShoeva in the great sukkah at around 11:45.

After reciting the Seder HaUshpizin, the Rebbe shlit"a washed for the Yom Tov seudah. Even before the fish, the Motzei Shabbos zemiros were sung, as is customary.

The Ushpizin sponsors placed wine, as is customary. After the Yom Tov foods, several special kugels and delicacies were served in honor of Yom Tov from a number of the Ushpizin sponsors; the Rebbe tasted and distributed shirayim.

With the Shir HaMaalos, the Rebbe honored the following:

The Rebbe shlit"a said Torah on the verse "V'eileh shemos bnei Yisroel," explaining that all the shevatim correspond to the redemption from Egypt, while Yosef HaTzaddik corresponds to the future redemption. Because Yosef sustained all the shevatim, Rachel Imeinu is called the mother of all Klal Yisroel, and through this she received the promise of "V'shavu banim li'gvulam." The sukkah is a remembrance of the Clouds of Glory at the Exodus from Egypt, which came in the merit of the shevatim, and it is also a remembrance of the future redemption, which will come in the merit of Yosef HaTzaddik.

Birkas Hamazon: the Chaver Beis Din, HaGaon HaTzaddik R' Yosef Rokeach shlit"a, Rav of Beis HaMedrash Kol Eliyahu of our holy kehilla in Kiryas Joel. After bentching, there was dancing in honor of the Simchas Beis HaShoeva; it ended at around 1:30.

Sunday – 4 Chol HaMoed

The Rebbe shlit"a entered for Shacharis in our great beis medrash in Kiryas Joel at around 10:05. The baal tefilla was HaRav HaChosid R' Yaakov Akiva Weinstock.

The Rebbe shlit"a approached Hallel and performed his holy avodah during the nanuim with great fervor and hisorerus, and afterwards recited the Hoshanos. R' Chaim Eli Teitelbaum was honored with Pesicha.

At the Torah reading, the following were honored. Kohen: HaGaon HaTzaddik R' Yechezkel Shraga HaKohen Glantz shlit"a of Bardejov (Williamsburg); Levi: R' Yosef Shalom Glick (Boro Park); Shlishi: Rabbi Chaim Meisels, son of the Gaon HaTzaddik, Av Beis Din of our kehilla in Montreal shlit"a; Revi'i: the Rebbe shlit"a. Hagbah: HaGaon HaTzaddik R' Nosson Dovid Ashkenazi shlit"a, Av Beis Din of Stanislau, Monsey; Gelilah: R' Yitzchak Dovid Yaakov (Yerushalayim, and administrator of the Boro Park yeshiva).

After the Torah reading, the guests from abroad bentched Gomel.
