Motzei Yom Tov – Night of the First Day of Chol HaMoed – Ushpizin of Yaakov – "B'tzeil HaKodesh" with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

The Rebbe shlit"a entered the tish in honor of the Ushpizin and the Simchas Beis HaShoeivah in the great sukkah at around 11:30.

After reciting the Seder HaUshpizin, the Rebbe shlit"a washed for the Yom Tov seudah.

The sponsors of the Ushpizin placed wine, as is customary. After the Yom Tov foods, several special kugels and delicacies in honor of Yom Tov from several of the Ushpizin sponsors were served; the Rebbe tasted and distributed shirayim.

With the Shir HaMaalos, the Rebbe honored the following:
HaGaon R' Chaim Ashkenazi shlit"a, son-in-law of HaGaon HaTzaddik, the Av Beis Din of our kehilla in Montreal shlit"a.
HaGaon R' Zalman Leib Rubin shlit"a, Av Beis Din of Dinov Monsey and rebbi in our holy yeshiva.
HaGaon HaTzaddik R' Chaim Yosef Wertzberger shlit"a, Av Beis Din of Hunyad.
HaGaon HaTzaddik R' Simcha Sholom Steinberger shlit"a, rav of the Divrei Chaim beis medrash.

The Rebbe shlit"a said Torah on the verse "And Yaakov went out from Be'er Sheva and went to Charan," explaining that through the Four Minim one can come to teshuva out of love.

At the end of the Torah, the Rebbe shlit"a spoke out about the custom, in which people follow the practice of the Beirach Moshe zy"a, of buying a personal set of Four Minim for the bochurim and children. One should be careful to buy only if it is kosher lechatchilah and not seek to buy cheaply, for otherwise, chas v'shalom, "his gain may be lost through his loss.".

Birkas Hamazon: HaGaon HaTzaddik, the Av Beis Din of our kehilla, shlit"a. After bentching there was dancing in honor of Simchas Beis HaShoeivah; it ended at around 1:10.

First Day of Chol HaMoed

The Rebbe shlit"a entered for Shacharis in our great beis medrash in Kiryas Joel at around 10:05. The baal tefillah was R' Elchanan Taub.

The Rebbe shlit"a proceeded to Hallel and performed his holy service during the Naanuim with great fervor and inspiration, and afterwards recited the Hoshanos. R' Dovid Shimon Promovitch was honored with Pesicha.

At the Torah reading, the following were honored. Kohen: the Rebbe's grandson Rabbi Nachman Kahana, son-in-law of HaGaon R' Baruch shlit"a; Levi: HaGaon R' Yosef Moshe Ungar shlit"a (Monsey); Shlishi: HaTzaddik R' Chaim Elazar Weiss shlit"a, Av Beis Din of Chmelnik Monsey; Revii: the Rebbe shlit"a. Hagbah: HaGaon HaTzaddik R' Yoel shlit"a, rav of the Beis Boruch beis medrash; Gelilah: R' Tzion Abdi Masri.

In the afternoon, the Spinka Rebbe shlit"a came for a Yom Tov visit to the Rebbe shlit"a in his private sukkah at his holy home. A pleasant conversation ensued in Torah, Chassidus and matters of the Yom Tov, after which the Rebbe shlit"a accompanied him out to the street.

The Rebbe shlit"a then delivered brief holy blessings via live hook-up to our people in Bnei Brak at the Ushpizin seudah of Moshe Rabbeinu and Simchas Beis HaShoeivah, as well as in the great sukkah of our holy kehilla in Shikun.

The Rebbe shlit"a also visited by telephone HaGaon HaTzaddik, the Av Beis Din of Friedman shlit"a, who had just returned home from the hospital and is recovering from an accident, may Hashem protect. The Rebbe showed interest in his state of health and blessed him with a complete recovery, long life and years, and a good, final signing.
