Continuation of the report from Shabbos Parshas Vayeilech, Shabbos Shuvah, "B'tzeil HaKodesh" with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a.

In the afternoon at 6:00 the Rebbe shlit"a entered the Beis Medrash HaGadol for the Shabbos Shuvah derasha. The Rebbe shlit"a recited a brachah, wrapped himself in a tallis, went up to the Aron Kodesh and said a silent prayer.

The Rebbe shlit"a began the derasha with the verse "Shuvah Yisroel ad Hashem Elokecha," first with a lengthy pilpul on the sugya of "ed echad ne'eman be'issurin." Afterwards the Rebbe spoke words of aggadah on the topic of teshuvah, that Jews have the law of hekdesh and it removes them from the servitude of the yetzer hara. The soul is trusted to give testimony against a person, because it is within his power to leave the ways of the yetzer hara through the study of Torah.

Afterwards the Rebbe shlit"a delivered words of mussar and chizuk, standing "between Kesseh and Asor," praised the city of Kiryas Joel and all its affairs, and spoke out about several matters: strengthening Torah study and the avodah of davening, and tznius in the ezras nashim, especially the breach regarding hair, particularly in Kiryas Joel, the place of the Rebbe. The Rebbe shlit"a expressed himself that "the Feter z"l is a stickler (a gavra d'kapdana) against those who break the fence in his holy city." The Rebbe shlit"a told a story about the holy R' Mendele of Rimanov zy"a, who ordered a window made in his holy ohel so that he could look out and guard the city, and said, "The Feter z"l lies here in the city and keeps a watchful eye on the city; the ohel has a window... 'V'hevei zahir b'gachalan' (be careful with their coals)," and likewise the Rebbe shlit"a spoke about selling clean-line materials, being guarded from the dangers of technology, and keeping among upright Jews within the borders of Kiryas Joel. At the end of the holy words the Rebbe shlit"a said that we should pray about the education decree in New York, which requires great heavenly mercy, and about the draft decree in Eretz Yisroel, and concluded with his holy blessings.

After the derasha the Rebbe shlit"a said Kaddish. It ended at 7:15.

The Rebbe shlit"a entered for Mincha and Shalosh Seudos at 7:45. Mincha: R' Yoshe Mordechai Wertzberger. Removing and returning the Torah: R' Meir Akiva Krieger. Kohen: HaGaon R' Yosef Shmuel Philipp shlit"a. Levi: HaGaon HaTzaddik R' Simcha Sholom Steinberger shlit"a, Rav of Beis Medrash Divrei Chaim. Shlishi: Chadvban, HaGaon HaTzaddik R' Henoch Ashkenazi shlit"a, Rav of Beis Medrash Avnei Tzedek. Hagbah: the Rebbe shlit"a. Gelilah: R' Avrohom Shmuel Weinberger.

The Rebbe shlit"a honored the singing of zemiros at Shalosh Seudos. Odeh: R' Shlomo Hersh Eckstein. Shir HaMaalos: R' Moshe Goldstein.

The new nigunim were sung.

At the Shalosh Seudos Torah thought, the Rebbe shlit"a focused on the verse in the haftarah, "Shuvah Yisroel ad Hashem Elokecha," and explained by way of mussar and chizuk that there are four types of kapparah, where one gets off only with suffering. But when one engages in Torah, one can thereby fulfill it as if he had accepted the suffering, and it helps for teshuvah itself.

Yedid Nefesh: R' Yisroel HaKohen Landau. Kel Mistatter: R' Shlomo Klagsbrun. The Rebbe shlit"a recited the blessing over the cup. Maariv on Motzei Shabbos: the Shabbos baal tefillah R' Yoshe Mendelowitz. After Havdalah, people went over to wish a "gutte voch." The Rebbe shlit"a thanked the choir, children and adults alike. It ended at 9:50.
