Parshas Va'eschanan — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a at the vacation location in Bethlehem, New Hampshire

=Monday=

At around 8:40 the Rebbe shlit"a entered for Shacharis at our beis medrash, Machzikei HaDas Kehal Yereim, in Bethlehem.

During the Torah reading the Rebbe had the third aliyah. The Rebbe's aliyah was purchased by R' Reuven Glantz. After his aliyah, the Rebbe thanked him.

After davening, all the Shabbos guests went over to bid the Rebbe farewell.

In the evening after Maariv, the Rebbe shlit"a recited Kiddush Levana in the parking lot of the neighboring Chandler (Arlington) Hotel, and then wished everyone a good month.

On Tuesday, on the way home after Maariv, the Rebbe spoke about the visit to the mehudar slaughterhouse, and about his father, the Rebbe zy"a, being in the camp during the bitter war.

=Wednesday=

At around 8:40 the Rebbe shlit"a entered for Shacharis at our beis medrash, Machzikei HaDas Kehal Yereim, in Bethlehem.

In the afternoon, a group of outstanding bochurim, talmidim of the Yeshiva Ketana "Snif Rav Tov" of our holy mosdos in Kiryas Joel, arrived at the Rebbe shlit"a's holy home together with the principal, HaGaon Rabbi Wolf Landau shlit"a. The Rebbe shlit"a tested the bochurim for an extended period of nearly an hour on the entire "Yoreh Deah, volume 1." Afterwards the Rebbe expressed his great nachas and wished the bochurim holy blessings.

At night after Maariv, a group of bochurim, talmidim of Yeshivas Belz in Lakewood, together with the rabbeim who are staying in New Hampshire these days, came to greet the Rebbe.

=Thursday=

At around 8:40 the Rebbe shlit"a entered for Shacharis at our beis medrash, Machzikei HaDas Kehal Yereim, in Bethlehem.

During the Torah reading the Rebbe had the third aliyah. The Rebbe's aliyah was purchased by R' Reuven Glantz. After his aliyah, the Rebbe thanked him.

On the way home, among other topics, they spoke about the singing at Lecha Dodi and about customs regarding Lecha Dodi in the courts of Sighet, Belz, Vizhnitz and Skver.

In the morning hours, at around 11:15, the Rebbe shlit"a arrived for a visit to the "Hartside Bungalow Colony" in Bethlehem, New Hampshire, which was recently purchased by Jewish owners. First the Rebbe shlit"a went into the home of the owner, R' Menachem Asher Berkowitz, where the Rebbe looked around for an extended time. Afterwards the Rebbe shlit"a walked around the entire area, accompanied by the owners, and looked into several apartments. They discussed the expansion of the borders and the plans for the future.
The Rebbe shlit"a also entered the home of HaGaon Rabbi Meilitz, the Av Beis Din shlit"a, who is vacationing there. He gave the Rebbe a kvitel and the Rebbe wished him holy blessings.

Afterwards the Rebbe shlit"a went over to the local mikvah, and the Rebbe examined the kashrus and hiddurim of the mikvah.

Then the Rebbe shlit"a went over to the local beis medrash, where the Rebbe looked around and then held a lechayim gathering. The Rebbe shlit"a wished the owner, R' Menachem Asher Berkowitz, holy blessings. A fine conversation developed about tzaddikim, regarding travelling for rest and relaxation, especially during the three weeks, being away from home. Afterwards the Rebbe shlit"a delivered brief holy blessings.

"Those who hope in Hashem shall renew their strength; they shall soar on wings like eagles"
Afterwards, at around 12:00, the Rebbe shlit"a went for his usual walk in Neos Deshe, where splendid conversations were held in words of Torah and Chassidus, holy customs and stories of tzaddikim, and matters of current concern, a walk that was "like cold water to a weary soul," which will remain engraved in the memory of the participants.
Among other topics, they spoke for an extended time about the Rebbe shlit"a's visit last Tuesday to the mehudar slaughterhouse of our kehilla for poultry in Postville, Iowa, discussing all the methods and procedures of shechita and nikkur, in the past and today, and the chumros that have been introduced in the mehudar slaughterhouse. In particular they spoke about "shechita menuchas," its chumros and also its advantages for the shochtim.
They also spoke about incidents and stories of the holy Megaleh Amukos zy"a, whose yahrzeit was on Thursday, and about towns and the map of Europe before the war.
At the end of the walk, HaGaon Rabbi Kalman Halberstam, Av Beis Din of Zanz Kiryas Joel and principal of our yeshiva Mesivta HaKedosha, Snif Kedushas Yoel, arrived, and they spoke about customs in the courts of Zanz and Sighet.

After the walk the Rebbe shlit"a arrived for a visit to the "PMR Bungalow Colony" in Bethlehem, New Hampshire, where the Rebbe looked at the newly built section of the area. The Rebbe shlit"a walked around the new section, accompanied by the owners, and looked into several apartments. On the way they discussed further plans to expand the area. Afterwards a lechayim gathering took place in one of the houses. The Rebbe wished holy blessings to the owner, R' Yitzchak Roderick, and to the manager, the bochur Lipa Moskowitz, and gave shirayim to the owners.
Among other topics, they discussed plans to renovate and beautify the "Sherman Hotel," where yeshiva students stay over Shabbos.

In the afternoon, a group of bochurim, talmidim of Yeshivas Belz in Lakewood, together with the rabbeim who are staying in New Hampshire these days, arrived at the Rebbe shlit"a's holy home. The Rebbe inquired about their studies and delivered a lengthy talk of chizuk, especially regarding Torah learning, and then wished them holy blessings.

=Erev Shabbos Kodesh=

At around 8:40 the Rebbe shlit"a entered for Shacharis at our beis medrash, Machzikei HaDas Kehal Yereim, in Bethlehem. Before davening the Rebbe put tefillin on the bar mitzvah bochurim, the bochur Yaakov Yitzchak Oberlander and the bochur Dovid Wertheimer.

After davening a lechayim gathering took place. The Rebbe shlit"a wished holy blessings to the bar mitzvah bochurim and told stories of the holy Reb Hershele Liska zy"a, whose yahrzeit falls today, Friday.

Afterwards dozens of guests, elderly and young, went over to greet the Rebbe, having come to be in the Rebbe's holy presence and to spend the elevated Shabbos in New Hampshire.

On the way home, the askanim of Belz conveyed a greeting to the Rebbe regarding the help they received for their group "Ahavas HaTorah" through the askanim of the Hisachdus Avreichim of our holy kehilla, "to magnify Torah and glorify it."

In the afternoon after the mikvah, talmidim of our yeshiva "Mesivta HaKedosha," Snif Kedushas Yoel, entered the Rebbe shlit"a's private room. They had taken upon themselves good commitments against the dangers of technology at the holy "V'Atahar" gathering, accompanied by the principal, HaGaon Rabbi Kalman Halberstam, Av Beis Din of Zanz Kiryas Joel. The Rebbe looked over the commitments and distributed a sefer "Yosher Divrei Emes" to the bochurim.

Afterwards several yeshiva students presented to the Rebbe shlit"a answers to the question that the Rebbe had left them. The Rebbe looked over the answers and derived great nachas.
