Friday afternoon at 8:40 the Rebbe entered the beis medrash and approached the amud for Mincha; Kabbalas Shabbos: HaRav R' Yechiel Rubin. After davening, everyone went over to wish a gut Shabbos, and the appeal for the Sephardic yeshiva in the holy city took place. A short while after davening the Rebbe entered the Friday night seudah together with the talmidim of the Mesivta; Eishes Chayil: the grandson, the bochur Meir Eliezer, son of HaGaon R' Baruch; raising the cup for Kiddush: the chosson Rabbi Shimon, may he have a good year, grandson of the Rav of our kehilla, the Gaon and tzaddik, 15 shlit"a; Kol Mekadesh: R' Yisroel Landau; Menucha V'Simcha: R' Yaakov Fischer; the Rebbe said Torah on the parsha of Birkas Kohanim and explained in a drush manner the sugya of "ad v'ad bichlal"; Kah Echsof: HaGaon R' Kalman Halberstam, Av Beis Din of Zanz, Kiryas Joel, and director of our yeshiva "Mesivta HaKedosha," Kedushas Yoel branch; Bentching: HaGaon R' Mendel Panet, son of the Rebbe of Dej Bnei Brak shlit"a; stories and accounts: this week the Rebbe related about his grandfather, the holy Rebbe R' Shalom Eliezer of Ratzfert zy"a Hy"d, whose yahrzeit falls on Thursday, 16 Sivan; Kah Ribon Olam: R' Yaakov Fuchs of Yerushalayim; at the fruits the chasanim passed through; Az B'Yom HaShvi'i: the distinguished philanthropist R' Yisroel Schipf, Rosh HaKahal of our kehilla in Monsey. After his aliyah the Rebbe made a Mi Sheberach and naming for the birth of a daughter for:

The simcha of the Kiddush took place in the Rafshitz beis medrash in Boro Park. She was named in Yisroel Pesil Leah, after the holy and pure Rebbetzin, the companion of the Rebbe, the Beirach Moshe zy"a. Rejoice and be glad in the Rebbe's simcha

The Rebbe entered for Mincha and Shalosh Seudos at 8:45. Mincha: R' Elchanan Taub; Hotza'ah and Hachnasah: R' Yechezkel Weinberger; Kohen: HaGaon R' Isaac Glick; Levi: R' Shmuel Dovid Weinberger; Shlishi: HaGaon R' Shimon Greenbaum; Hagbah: the Rebbe shlit"a; Gelilah: R' Yoel, son of R' Moshe Mittelman. At Shalosh Seudos the Rebbe honored R' Noach Gafen with Odeh; Shir HaMaalos: R' Moshe Goldstein. At the Torah, the Rebbe took as his topic the verse "May Hashem bless you and guard you," and explained in a mussar manner that there are two ways in which Hashem calls Jewish children: one is "it happened to her and he came," the second is "he struck with a rod." In order to merit being called with a call of affection, it is only through engaging in Torah. He also spoke about the tragedies that Klal Yisroel has unfortunately experienced now in several places through this "striking with a rod," and he roused the listeners toward learning Torah.
