Report
Standing a few days after the holy second days of Yom Tov, one can already somewhat collect one's thoughts and try to express a little of the feelings of the many thousands of Jews who merited to take part in these radiant days in the holy shadow of our father and shepherd, the crown of our head, the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a — feelings which, as the saying goes, "enough of the days" is not possible to fully express.
Fortunate are we, how good is our portion, that we merited such holy days, tripled in threefold holiness, from three consecutive day-and-night periods: Hoshana Rabba, Shemini Atzeres, Simchas Torah — in the joy of the Torah and the joy of a mitzvah, with an uplifted spirit. How pleasant is our lot to be in the holy shadow of a tzaddik like a date palm, and to merit to draw from the well of living waters and to be warmed for an entire year. And how beautiful is our inheritance, the other days of Yom Tov, an inheritance to us from our holy Rebbes, in the beautiful city of Kiryas Joel, a place where our holy Rebbes davened, and fortunate is the eye that saw a holy congregation, all stirred as one, the joy of a mitzvah, and a home full and overflowing with blessings, material and spiritual. May it be Hashem's will that this holy impression remain engraved forever and ever. Here we will only relate the matters as they were, the order of the days, and the rest of what we have already read before you is written here.

Hoshana Rabba: Between Mincha and Maariv the Rebbe received the guests from overseas in his private room in the Beis Medrash HaGadol for an extended time. After Mishneh Torah there was an uplifting tish where the melodies of the Yamim Noraim were sung with great elation of the soul. At the lechayim, after the sip, the Rebbe said: "...We need mercy from Heaven, that they should not disturb the Yom Tov for us; there is a decree, chas v'shalom. One could not have imagined such a thing in this country. But the Yetev Panim says that it is easy to be rid of a person with free choice if he is a non-Jew; if one has mixed with the uncircumcised, it is easy to be rid of him..." And he concluded with his holy blessings.
Early in the morning, the Rebbe entered the Beis Medrash wrapped in his tallis and kittel and the kapel of the Rebbe the Kedushas Yom Tov, the Divrei Yoel zt"l, where the Rebbe performed the holy service of Hallel and the shaking of the aravos with holy feeling. Afterwards the Rebbe began the words of the living God, the Hoshana Rabba derasha, with awesome weeping. The arousal and weeping of the thousands-strong congregation was heard throughout the entire Beis Medrash. - See the separate report on the content of the holy words, "Divrei Kibushin, Derashas Hoshana Rabba" -
Between the Hoshanos, the shofar was blown by our teacher, the Rebbe's son, HaGaon HaTzaddik, Av Beis Din and Rosh Yeshiva of Veitzen-Monroe shlit"a.

The night of Shemini Atzeres, upon entering, the Rebbe went over to the special corner for the members of Ahavas Kadumim and wished them a good Shabbos and good Yom Tov.
Ata Hareisa at 8:20. The Rebbe danced around the entire Beis Medrash, also in the new wings, "The name of Hashem is a tower of strength; the righteous one runs into it and is lifted high," especially at the 6th and 7th Hakafos. They finished at 11:15.
The Rebbe turned to all sides of the Beis Medrash and wished a good Shabbos and good Yom Tov, and all the people answered, and wished the Rebbe in return.

Shemini Atzeres day, Shacharis: our teacher, the Rebbe's son, HaGaon HaTzaddik, Av Beis Din shlit"a, went to the amud.
For Hallel, the Rebbe went to the amud.
For Yizkor, the Rebbe came in dressed in his kittel and silver kapel. After Yizkor there was a pause so that no danger to life should occur. The Rebbe went to the amud for the tefillas geshem and effected livelihood.
After davening, the Rebbe made Kiddush in the sukkah. At the end of the Torah, the Rebbe wished: "May the Eibershter help for life and not for death, for plenty and not for scarcity, for blessing and not for curse; that they should not disturb the Yom Tov."

At the afternoon seudah, the grandchildren of the Rebbe the Kedushas Yom Tov zt"l, the Beirach Moshe, ate together with the Rebbe.

In the afternoon the "Shalosh" took place — the farewell from the sukkah, the "apple tish." The Rebbe tasted from the apples before the time; after bentching, the apples were thrown as is customary. Afterwards the Rebbe called out in a mighty and strong voice three times, "L'shana haba'ah b'Yerushalayim!" The Rebbe began to dance with strength and vigor, with the joy of a mitzvah, out of the sukkah, leaning on the children — his firstborn son, our teacher, HaGaon HaRav shlit"a, and HaGaon R' Chaim Hersh, Av Beis Din of Sighet — into the Beis Medrash and danced around.

The night of Simchas Torah, 12:20, the Rebbe entered for Maariv. Ata Hareisa at 1:05.
Between the Hakdamos and Hakafos, the Rebbe said Torah. Among other things, the Rebbe mentioned a story: "R' Yeshaele Tshechoiver, a son of the holy Divrei Chaim, was once unwell; he was very sick.
One night R' Yoshele Belzer watched over him, and in the middle of the night he became very unwell, and he dreamed that he saw his father, and he gave him to smell from an apple, and he felt much better." And he said, in a voice choked with tears: "We need many apples."
The Rebbe also mentioned the holy Zohar that the Avos come down from Gan Eden and bring down salvations, and
said: "...We are in the very same place where the Feter z"l (the Rebbe the Kedushas Yom Tov, the Divrei Yoel zt"l) led the Hakafos in the last years of his life. Mi baal devarim yigash eilav — Eli'u, the initials of his holy name. He is found here; one can pray for everything..." At the end of the 7th Hakafah the Rebbe circled the bimah in the reverse direction, as was the custom of the holy Rebbe, the Divrei Yoel zt"l, at a hachnasas sefer Torah.
They finished at 5:20, close to the aliyos. The Rebbe announced, "Everyone may eat."

Simchas Torah day, Shacharis, 10:55. Ata Hareisa at 1:15.
Between the Hakdamos and Hakafos, the Rebbe said Torah. During the Hakafos they sang the song of the chareidim with great arousal. At the 3rd Hakafah the Rebbe honored all the melamdim of the Talmud Torah to hold the sifrei Torah, and at the 4th Hakafah, the grandchildren of the holy Rebbe zt"l.
"The doorposts shook." Fortunate is the eye that saw — at the 6th Hakafah, where the Rebbe makes the shaking motions with the Sefer Torah and the crowd rises as the Rebbe lifts the Torah upward; at the 7th Hakafah, where the Rebbe goes up onto the bimah to dance with the Torah.
Although they started earlier than usual, they finished an hour later than usual, at 6:20.
During the Torah reading, the Rebbe made a Mi Sheberach for R' Moshe Menachem Schlesinger.

At 9:10 the Rebbe came in for Neilas HaChag. At the lechayim, after the fish, the Rebbe said: "...We must thank and praise the holy Creator that we did not have a disturbed Yom Tov. 'Your servant runs like a deer' — that we were able to dance, 'I bow toward the path' — for this alone we must give thanks. I personally, that I was able to dance, and the whole congregation. May the Eibershter help that it was a joyous Yom Tov, and may a joyous year come..."
After Havdalah, the blessing ceremony took place in the Beis Medrash HaGadol. In light of the situation, and the Yom Tov having been such that, upon departing from the holy, "chassidim would dance," they began to dance: "The kindnesses of Hashem have not ceased," that the Yom Tov passed undisturbed, and afterward joyous songs, and the Rebbe gave his holy blessings.

Fortunate is the people for whom it is so; fortunate is the people whose God is Hashem.
