Report of an Uplifting Shabbos in Our Holy Kehilla of Boro Park #1

Shabbos, Delight of the Souls

Following is a detailed report of the uplifting visit of the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a this past Shabbos Kodesh to our holy kehilla of Boro Park, to strengthen and elevate our holy kehilla.

"A Shabbos that was exceedingly elevated passed for the chassidim of Satmar in the city, experiencing a Shabbos in the shadow of holiness"

On Friday afternoon the Rebbe arrived in Boro Park, to his lodging in the home of R' Moshe Kahana. As reported, HaGaon HaGadol R' Shmuel Eliezer Stern shlit"a, Rav of West Bnei Brak, visited the Rebbe at the lodging, where a splendid Torah conversation took place.

Throughout Shabbos, at the tefillos and the tables, the great beis medrash was filled from end to end with thousands of Boro Park chassidim who came to take part in the elevated Shabbos in the holy presence of the Rebbe.

At 8:05 the Rebbe entered the great beis medrash and approached the amud for Mincha. Kabbalas Shabbos: HaGaon HaTzaddik R' Moshe Friedman shlit"a, dayan of our kehilla in Boro Park. The Rebbe went to count Sefirah. After davening, an enormous crowd of thousands of Boro Park residents, among them Rabbanim and dayanim of the city, passed by for a lengthy time to wish a gut Shabbos and greet the Rebbe.

The askanim quickly finished preparing the beis medrash for the night seudah. At 10:25 the Rebbe entered for the seudah, at which hundreds of talmidim of our holy yeshivos of Boro Park ate together. Eishes Chayil: the grandson, the bochur Meir Eliezer, son of HaGaon R' Baruch. Hagbahas hakos: HaGaon R' Yitzchak Eizik Green. Before the fish, the Rebbe delivered words of Torah, mussar and guidance to the yeshiva students, which lasted over half an hour. Among other things, the Rebbe stressed that davening and learning must be done with energy and enthusiasm, and that the advice for this is "not to indulge one's desires," despite living in America, whose nature is the fulfillment of desires. Likewise, the Rebbe urged that one must eat with care and restraint, and bentch from the heart. Afterwards the Rebbe asked the bochurim to study the introduction to the holy sefer "Derech Pikudecha."

During the seudah with the hundreds of bochurim, it was observed by the thousands of chassidim and men of deeds standing on the benches. After the seudah, before the zemiros, the bochurim handed over their places to the elders and the distinguished members of the community.

Menucha V'Simcha: HaGaon HaTzaddik, Av Beis Din of Kshanov shlit"a, whose Torah was on the verse "Bezos yavo Aharon el hakodesh" in the manner of a derush, and on the topic of whether one expounds the word "es." Kah Echsof: the Tzeshnov Av Beis Din shlit"a. At bentching the Rebbe honored his brother-in-law, HaGaon HaTzaddik, Av Beis Din of our kehilla in Boro Park shlit"a. Stories and accounts were told of the Rafshitzer Rav zy"a and of the Noda BiYehuda zy"a. Kah Ribon Olam: HaGaon HaTzaddik, Av Beis Din of Tarnipol shlit"a. The Rebbe honored HaGaon HaTzaddik R' Chaim Meir Hager, Av Beis Din of Kiryas Vizhnitz in Bnei Brak, son of the Vizhnitz Rebbe shlit"a, to sing "Rachem." At the fruits, the Rebbe gave to his brother-in-law, HaGaon HaTzaddik, Av Beis Din of our kehilla in Boro Park shlit"a, and to his brother, HaGaon HaTzaddik, Rav of our kehilla at 15th Avenue shlit"a. The chasanim passed by to take fruit. A Shalom Zachor took place at R' Yeshaya, son of R' Pinchas Brach, of Boro Park, and R' Yosef, son of R' Chaim Leib Friedman, of Lakewood, on the seventh day.
