"Before kings and nobles he shall stand; the hearts of kings and nobles are in the hand of Hashem"

A historic rabbinic delegation visited the White House in Washington, the capital, today, Thursday, led by leading rabbis headed by the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a, for a rare meeting with President Trump yr"h.

At 12:59 the Rebbe's private plane landed at DCA airport in Washington, D.C.
At the airport, Congressman Pat Ryan of the Kiryas Joel area waited to greet the Rebbe.

The Rebbe traveled a short, 10-minute ride to the White House, where the Rebbe arrived at around 1:35.

The Rebbe entered the Roosevelt Room accompanied by HaGaon Rabbi, the Av Beis Din of Williamsburg and Boro Park shlit"a, and the meshamshim b'kodesh R' Chaim Shlomo Fischer, R' Naftali Hirtzka Stein, and R' Gedalya Segedin, among the heads of the Kiryas Joel administration.
Immediately upon arrival, the Rebbe greeted all the rabbis present, and then sat down for a meeting with the top administration officials, where all Jewish interests, both locally and worldwide, were addressed.
The rabbis present were HaGaon Rabbi Malkiel Kotler shlit"a, rosh yeshiva of Lakewood, the Vizhnitz Monsey Rebbe shlit"a, the Bobov Rebbe shlit"a, the Rebbe of Maharzal shlit"a, and HaRav HaTzaddik R' Aharon Mendel Twersky shlit"a, son of the Skverer Rebbe shlit"a. Congressman Mike Lawler, who worked hard for the visit, was also present.

R' Yoel Rosenfeld, one of the leading askanim of Bobov, opened the meeting and addressed certain topics. Among those who took the floor during the meeting were the distinguished rabbis, headed by the Rebbe shlit"a, the Av Beis Din of Williamsburg and Boro Park shlit"a, R' Gedalya Segedin, R' Yisroel Moshe Spitzer, mayor of Shikun Skver, R' Moshe Dovid Niederman, the askan R' Yehuda Leib Sarger, and the askan R' Moshe Margaretten. Many important topics concerning the chareidi community in general, and especially Jews in New York and New Jersey, were discussed with the officials present.

In particular, R' Gedalya presented the needs of the more than 50,000 residents of Kiryas Joel, may they live and be well, and addressed the problems with which the administration can be helpful.

After a lengthy time, Vice President JD Vance yr"h entered and greeted the rabbis and askanim, and discussed various pressing matters.

Afterward, the Rebbe shlit"a, accompanied by R' Gedalya Segedin, was called in specially to the President yr"h for a private meeting of about 15 minutes, regarding matters of pidyon shevuyim (the redemption of captives).
The Rebbe warmly greeted the President and personally discussed the important topics with him. The President, with visible warmth and out of respect for the Rebbe shlit"a, responded and discussed the matters thoughtfully and sensibly.

After the private meeting, the remaining rabbis, together with R' Yisroel Moshe Spitzer, mayor of Shikun Skver, and R' Moshe Dovid Niederman, were called in to meet with the President in the Oval Office.

The Rebbe shlit"a, who was already there from before, waited until all the other rabbis had each greeted the President.
Then the Rebbe shlit"a, who was seated directly opposite the President at the center of the Oval Office table, together with all the rabbis present around the table, stood up and recited the prayer for the welfare of the government, "HaNoten Teshua LaMelachim," and then honored R' Gedalya Segedin to translate it into English.

The President, with visible emotion, asked that his son-in-law Jared Kushner be called up immediately, saying: "He must be here when such distinguished guests are here."

After the prayer, the Rebbe said a few words in honor of the President, and thanked him for his well-known directive to reopen the batei medrash and mosdos during the bitter COVID period, and continued with other topics on behalf of the chareidi community.

Then HaRav HaTzaddik R' Aharon Mendel Twersky shlit"a, son of the Skverer Rebbe shlit"a, took the floor for a few brief minutes and handed the President a letter from his father. The President inquired about the well-being of his father, the Rebbe shlit"a.

Afterward, the Rebbe, together with the other rabbis shlit"a, continued the conversation with the President on various topics concerning the chareidi community in Eretz Yisroel and in the Diaspora.

The Rebbe invited HaGaon Rabbi Malkiel Kotler shlit"a, rosh yeshiva of Beis Medrash Govoha of Lakewood, to say a few words, but the rosh yeshiva shlit"a instead handed the President a private letter about various matters.

In a remarkable move, in the middle of the meeting the President suddenly asked the Rebbe for his note, on which were written the details that the Rebbe had discussed earlier when he sat privately with the President. The Rebbe gave it, and the President put it away in his drawer.

After about half an hour, they parted from the President in a friendly manner and thanked him for the warm reception.

As he left, the Rebbe took leave with the blessing of the years from the rabbis present, and wished them a good inscription and sealing among the books of the tzaddikim.
