Monday, Parshas Ki Seitzei — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

This morning at around 9:50, the Rebbe set out on the annual visit to the summer camps of our holy mosdos of Williamsburg and Boro Park.

At around 10:50, the Rebbe arrived at the bochurim's camp, Machane Rav Tov, in Swan Lake.
The Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis together with the hundreds of talmidim of the preparatory yeshiva class, 9th grade, of Williamsburg and Boro Park. The Rebbe laid tefillin in the beis medrash. Before davening, the Rebbe put tefillin on the bar mitzvah bochurim:
- The bochur Wolf Landau.
- The bochur Yaakov Yoel Sofdi.

- Baal Tefillah: the bochur Yitzchak Daniel, son of Yoel Dana a"h (Williamsburg).
- Pesicha: HaGaon R' Yuda Ber Teller shlit"a - principal of the 9th grade in Williamsburg.
- Baal Koreh: the bochur Zeidel, son of Rabbi Mendel Panet shlit"a (Boro Park).
- Kohen: HaGaon R' Akiva Yosef Kahana shlit"a - principal of the 9th grade in Boro Park.
- Levi: Rabbi Shmuel Moshe Friedman shlit"a (Boro Park).
- Shlishi: the bar mitzvah bochur Wolf Landau.
- Hagbah: the Rebbe shlit"a.
- Gelilah: the bar mitzvah bochur Yaakov Yoel Sofdi.

The Rebbe blew the shofar and recited ten chapters of Tehillim, as is customary in the month of Elul.

After Shacharis, the Rebbe went over to the house of R' Aharon Weinberger, in the vicinity of the camp, for a morning meal.

At around 1:50, the Rebbe returned to the bochurim's camp. The Rebbe entered the batei medrash where the bochurim learn and looked around with great nachas. The Rebbe walked among the tables for a longer time and tested the bochurim on their learning, first in the beis medrash of the 9th grade talmidim of Williamsburg. Before leaving the beis medrash, the Rebbe asked for the microphone and left a question for the bochurim in their studies.
The Rebbe then went over to the beis medrash of the 9th grade talmidim of Boro Park, looked at their learning, and engaged in pilpul with the bochurim for a longer time.

The Rebbe then went back up to where a lechayim gathering with the bochurim took place in the main hall of the beis medrash. Several niggunim and rhymed verses were sung. The Rebbe drank lechayim and bestowed blessings on the bar mitzvah bochurim, the maggidei shiur and the bochurim. The Rebbe delivered holy words, stressing the need to work at acquiring yiras shamayim in one's young years so that it will last in later years, through learning chassidic and mussar seforim, and concluded with his holy blessings. It ended at around 2:50.

From there, the Rebbe shlit"a traveled to the 'Yingel Camp' of Machane Rav Tov in Monticello, arriving at around 3:05.
The Rebbe went up to the 4 batei medrash of the older grades, 6th, 7th and 8th, of the talmidim of our mosdos in Williamsburg - the branch of Rabbi Moshe Elya Green shlit"a, the branch of Rabbi Yoel Stern shlit"a, the branch of Rabbi Elazar Eichenstein shlit"a - and then the talmidim of our mosdos in Boro Park under the direction of Rabbi Zerach Shapiro shlit"a.
The Rebbe looked at their learning with great nachas and asked questions in each branch in their studies. The Rebbe greeted in a special way his great-grandchildren shlit"a and the grandchildren of his father, the holy Rebbe, the Beirach Moshe zt"l, and gave them pouches of money, following the custom of his father, the holy Rebbe zy"a.

Afterwards, all the talmidim gathered in the dining hall for a reception.
The children welcomed the Rebbe with song and music, and then sang warm rhymed verses in honor of the occasion.
The Rebbe drank lechayim and bestowed blessings on the melamdim and the talmidim, and delivered holy words, stressing that for Torah learning to endure, one must first have yiras shamayim, and this must be known already from the young years when one begins learning Torah, that without yiras shamayim, Torah learning does not endure. He concluded with his holy blessings.
The Rebbe then distributed shirayim to the melamdim to distribute to all the children.

It ended at around 4:15, and the Rebbe left the camp and drove through as the children stood lined up on both sides of the camp, wishing him a good inscription and sealing (kesiva v'chasima tova).

At around 4:30, the Rebbe arrived at the camp of Yeshiva Ketana, branch Ahavas HaTorah of Williamsburg, under the direction of Rabbi Yechiel Michel Sekula shlit"a, where a chanukas habayis took place for the beis medrash building, 'Binyan Landau,' donated by R' Moshe Eliezer Landau, together with a cornerstone laying for a new dormitory building donated by R' Avrohom Yuda Rosenberg.
The Rebbe greeted his son, HaGaon HaTzaddik, the Av Beis Din of Williamsburg shlit"a, and looked around the beis medrash building.
Afterwards, a lechayim gathering took place in the main hall of the beis medrash. Several niggunim were sung. The Rebbe poured the cornerstone and honored HaGaon HaTzaddik, the Av Beis Din of Williamsburg shlit"a, with pouring as well.
The Rebbe drank lechayim and bestowed blessings on the Rav shlit"a, the rebbeim and the talmidim of the yeshiva, and delivered holy words on the verse "And you shall make a railing for your roof," explaining that as a new building is inaugurated in the camp where they stay during the summer, one must be careful with guarding the eyes. "Maakeh" (railing) is an acronym: Hirhurei Aveira Kashim Me'aveira (sinful thoughts are worse than the sin itself). He urged the bochurim to be careful with guarding the eyes, which is the foundation of being a proper Jew. He spoke in praise of the esteemed donors and bestowed abundant blessings on the donors, the yeshiva administration, and the rebbeim and talmidim of the yeshiva.
Then a minchas bikkurim was presented to the Rebbe shlit"a of over eight thousand pages of Gemara which the bochurim learned as a preparation for the Rebbe's visit. The Rebbe then distributed shirayim from the fruits to the donors.
It ended at around 5:10, and the Rebbe traveled home to Kiryas Joel.

Yechidus hours were from 6:00 until 12:50 at night, at his holy residence on Uhel Ct.

During yechidus hours, HaGaon HaTzaddik, the Av Beis Din of Hivnov shlit"a, who is currently vacationing in Kiryas Joel, paid a visit. A pleasant conversation ensued about the customs of the month of Tishrei and about the visits of his father, the Liska Rebbe zt"l, to the holy Rebbe, the Divrei Yoel zy"a, and the Rebbe bestowed his holy blessing upon him.

In the evening, the Rebbe officiated at kiddushin at the chuppah of the mechutanim:
- Rabbi Baruch Brosh Schwartz shlit"a and Rabbi Dovid Leib Kraus shlit"a in the Kinor David halls.
- R' Yaakov Yitzchak Steinmetz and R' Moshe Chaim Friedman in the Ginas Klein halls.

The Rebbe davened Mincha at around 8:15 and Maariv at around 12:50.

Also entering for yechidus was HaGaon R' Kalman Halberstam shlit"a, rav of the Zanz beis medrash in Kiryas Joel, together with his mechutan Rabbi Pinchas Elimelech Stein shlit"a, son of the Faltichan Rebbe shlit"a and son-in-law of the Rachmistrivka Rebbe shlit"a, to receive a holy blessing on the occasion of the wedding of their children, mazel tov, which will take place this coming Sunday, Parshas Ki Savo, in Kiryas Joel. A pleasant conversation developed about the yichus of the chosson and kallah, and the Rebbe bestowed his holy blessing upon them.

Also entering for yechidus were askanim of Merkaz Ezra V'Eitza of the Eida HaChareidis of Yerushalayim, who delivered a report on the chanukas habayis event that took place earlier this evening, headed by the Gaavad of Yerushalayim shlit"a, the posek hador and moreh d'asra of the holy city, and his Beis Din Tzedek, together with the leading Rebbes and leaders of the communities under the banner of the Eida HaChareidis, for the new gigantic headquarters of the Merkaz in the holy city of Yerushalayim, a new building of several floors with over ten rooms, which will make it possible to expand the Merkaz's activities dramatically in the current critical period. The askanim delivered a report on the visit by the Merkaz's administration to the Yerushalayim Rav shlit"a, and on the subsequent event headed by the members of the Beis Din shlit"a, at which HaGaon HaTzaddik R' Meir Zwebel shlit"a, one of the rabbanim of our holy kehilla, appeared on the holy mission of the Rebbe shlit"a.
The askanim mentioned the kiddush Hashem that even from the Agudist circles many rabbanim and roshei yeshivos were present, since even in their circles they see the reality that all their representatives from within were unable to accomplish anything, and that the only effective means to fight the bitter decree of the draft is through the offices that the Rebbe shlit"a established 13 years ago, before anyone even understood that the danger of a decree was looming.
The Rebbe inquired about the Merkaz's activities and the ongoing support through our holy kehilla, and bestowed his holy blessing on the askanim, that they should continue to be able to accomplish for the klal, saving Jewish souls from conversion.

After Maariv at around 1:10, the Rebbe went over to the Vachnacht celebration for his grandson's newborn son, born to Rabbi Mordechai Yuda Halberstam shlit"a, son of HaGaon Rabbi Avrohom Meir shlit"a - dayan and moreh tzedek of our beis medrash at 18 Boro Park - and son-in-law of HaGaon, the rav of the beis medrash, Yisroel Shalom shlit"a, at his father-in-law's home in the Veyoel Moshe neighborhood. A pleasant conversation ensued about the Yetev Lev zy"a, whose yahrzeit falls this week. The Rebbe drank lechayim and bestowed blessings on the baal simcha and the grandfathers.

The Rebbe then recited Krias Shema as customary and bestowed blessings on the mother. It ended at around 1:30.

Upon arriving home, the Rebbe fulfilled the mitzvah of shiluach hakein in the courtyard of his holy residence on Zanz Ct., through the efforts of R' Eliezer Gefen. The Rebbe recited the Lesheim Yichud and performed the mitzvah, appointed R' Eliezer Gefen as his agent to take the eggs, and bestowed his blessing.
