Friday, Erev Shabbos, Parshas Shelach — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

In the morning the Rebbe went over to Mivtzar HaKollelim, where the brissin took place for twins born to R' Shaul Brish Brach, and the Rebbe served as sandek.

The Rebbe davened Shacharis in the Talmud Torah building, the Markowitz building, together with Yeshiva Ketana, the Darkei Torah branch of Monsey, under the direction of HaRav R' Shaul Yechezkel Perlstein shlit"a.
Upon arriving at the Talmud Torah, the Rebbe looked in on the younger classes, who were gathered in the dining hall of the Talmud Torah building.
Before davening, the Rebbe put tefillin on the bar mitzvah bochurim:
- the bochur Avrohom Wolf Markowitz
- the bochur Yisroel Greenfeld (Monsey)
- the bochur Avrohom Yosef Kibudi

After davening, a lechayim gathering took place in the Heichal HaBeis Medrash. Several nigunim were sung, and the Rebbe drank lechayim and wished the bar mitzvah bochurim, the rebbeim and the talmidim of the yeshiva well. He delivered divrei Torah on the verse "And it shall be, when you eat of the bread of the land, you shall set apart a portion for Hashem," explaining that "terumah" is from the root of "elevation" (hisromemus), and spoke guidance about elevating oneself in the study of Torah, with more diligence in Torah and more toil in Torah. "The bread of the land" alludes to the physical; even with a physical matter, one must conduct oneself "you shall set apart a portion for Hashem" with an elevated spirit, as befits a Chassidic bochur: when eating, one should eat with a hat, and bentch with kavana, and so on. The Rebbe concluded with his holy blessing that everyone should be able to conduct themselves "in the ways of Torah" in all matters.

After Shacharis, the Rebbe paid a shiva call to the mourner, R' Menachem Yuda Ungar, who is sitting shiva for his father, R' Aryeh Ungar a"h.
