Excerpts from the hesped delivered by the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a before the bier of this gaon and tzaddik, the Av Beis Din of Karlsburg zt"l, formerly Dayan and Moreh Tzedek of our holy kehilla in Boro Park.

(After the Torah thoughts) "..We have come here to eulogize, a great loss in the passing of this renowned gaon, rav of the G-d-fearing kehilla of Karlsburg, who was an immense Torah scholar in all the treasures of the holy Torah.."
He then spoke about the special closeness he merited with our holy Rebbe, the Divrei Yoel zy"a, and about the Rebbe's amazement at his Torah knowledge, as the Rebbe zy"a expressed: "..that he did not believe that after the war he would still have such a talmid, such a great Torah scholar."

"..Later he was appointed as dayan and moreh tzedek in our kehilla here in Boro Park. He was an immense Torah scholar who answered the word of Hashem, this is the halacha, to all the questioners. His rulings became renowned both in the written Torah, in his seforim, his responsa volumes on halacha, and also in the oral Torah, and in every beis horaah where questions are ruled upon, they still say the word of Hashem, the halacha, in his name." ..When a Torah scholar dies, everyone is considered his relatives.. everyone mourns him; everyone mourns this great, tremendous loss, a great loss for all of the House of Israel."

He then requested of the niftar zt"l to arouse heavenly mercy for all of Klal Yisroel: "..In the current time, a difficult time for Klal Yisroel, Klal Yisroel needs abundant heavenly mercy, everyone knows. We need abundant mercy for Jewish children, for physical health. The niftar zt"l was a shliach tzibbur for many years for Klal Yisroel. As he ascends to the 'World of Truth,' we ask that he be a "emissary of the public" and arouse heavenly mercy and remove all illness from all Jewish children, that there should already be an end and finish to all our troubles. May Hashem help that the prophecy "He will swallow up death forever" be fulfilled, and that we merit the complete redemption speedily in our days."
