Report on the Hachnasas Sefer Torah Celebration #1
Torah, Torah, gird yourselves for the festival, and all came together into the covenant, saying as one, as one man, with one heart: "We will do and we will hear," to rejoice and be glad on Simchas Torah
"Rejoice and be glad on Simchas Torah, for it is our strength and our light"
Now, a full day after the historic, holy gathering of the Hachnasas Sefer Torah celebration led by our father and shepherd, the crown and splendor, the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a, we can begin to collect our thoughts after experiencing this historic event, which will not be forgotten by the tens of thousands of participants. The heart is overflowing with emotion!! There is no need to give a report to the many thousands of Yidden who merited to experience it themselves, and for those who were not there it is impossible to truly convey it, but we will try to relate a little of the plain facts, as they were.
"Holy, holy" shall be said of him; fortunate is the eye that has seen these things
Fortunate are the eyes that merited to see the love of the Rebbe, the leader of Klal Yisroel, the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a, who sits and toils, and has labored over the Torah day and night for seventy years, who lives with the Torah and is bound to the holy Torah!!
"From beginning to end it was one unit of deveikus, longing, uplifting of the soul, and holy excitement, with the fervor of Simchas Torah, like Yom Tov of Shavuos and Simchas Torah"
At around 2:00 the Rebbe arrived at the new Tenaim hall, "Pardes Pinchas," in the holy home of his grandfather, the Beirach Moshe zy"a, at Ohel Kt. There a private gathering, a lechayim celebration, took place for the royal family and the rabbonim and dayanim of our holy kehilla, together with the heads of our holy kehilla and its gabbaim in every place. Warm melodies of Kabbolas HaTorah were sung, and the inspiration was at the highest level, like Shavuos at "Ahavah Rabbah." Afterward the Rebbe drank a lechayim and wished the assembled gathering well, and then delivered warm words of Torah regarding the Hachnasas Sefer Torah. At the end of the address, with a voice choked with tears, he wept and pleaded with the Ribbono Shel Olam to merit toil in Torah, understanding of Torah, and upright, blessed, G-d-fearing generations.
This warm gathering was heard by the thousands of anash through the powerful speakers that were set up across all of Ohel Kt. and Garfield.
After the address the singing of warm melodies continued, and then the crowd broke out in fiery dancing as the Rebbe took the holy Torah and set out, with fiery holy dancing. After a few minutes the Rebbe handed the Torah to his brother, the Av Beis Din of 15 shlit"a, who led the Torah out of the hall. The Rebbe went upstairs and brought the Torah out with drums and dancing onto the balcony of his holy home and began dancing with the Torah back and forth with great fervor, while thousands of Yidden stood around his holy home and on the high bleachers, despite the rain, watching the holy service. Then the Rebbe handed the Torah to the Beis Yitzchak Spinka Rebbe shlit"a, then to his firstborn son, the Rav of Williamsburg, shlit"a, to his brother the Av Beis Din of 15 shlit"a, to the Dayan of Kiryas Joel shlit"a, to R' Aharon Mendel Terverski, the eldest son of the Skver Rebbe, and then to the sons and sons-in-law of the Rebbe and the sons of the Skver Rebbe.
The Rebbe took the Torah and went up to the magnificent chuppah set up on a special platform so that the public could participate. The Rebbe danced for several minutes and then honored the rabbonim and dayanim of our holy kehilla to dance with the Torah on the way to the beis medrash.
At around 3:30 the beis medrash was reached, where the emotional Kabbolas HaTorah gathering took place with tens of thousands of talmidim in our holy mosdos from all over New York. On the steps of the beis medrash stood in rows over 100 Sifrei Torah from Kiryas Joel, welcoming "the Rebbe's Torah," held by the elders and leaders of the community, members of the "Ahavas Kadumim" groups. The Rebbe went up to the special platform. "The oldest melamed in Satmar," the elderly HaGaon R' Akivale, may he live a long life, was present, having come with his weak strength to take part in the elevated event, and the Rebbe let him kiss the Sefer Torah. Then the Rebbe set out with fiery holy dancing, "Rejoice and be glad on Simchas Torah," for several more minutes. Afterward the thousands of children sang "V'ha'arev Na" and "V'haer Eineinu" and more warm melodies,
Please, Hashem our G-d, sweeten the words of Your Torah in our mouths and in the mouths of Your people, the House of Israel, and may we, our offspring, and the offspring of our offspring, and the offspring of Your people, the House of Israel, all know Your Name and study Your Torah for its own sake
