The Holy Journey of the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a to Eretz Yisroel - Shabbos Kodesh at the holy site of Meron

Tuesday, Parshas Toldos - Yerushalayim, the holy city

In the morning, the Rebbe went to the mikvah at the guesthouse.

The Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis together with the hundreds of children of our holy mosdos in our great beis medrash.
Upon arriving at the beis medrash at around 9:50, the Rebbe looked in on the learning of the talmidim and walked among the tables, listening to the children with great nachas for an extended time.

At around 10:15 the Rebbe entered for Shacharis and put on tallis and tefillin. Before davening, the Rebbe put tefillin on the bar mitzvah bochur, the bochur Dovid Moshe Zipper.

After davening, a bris took place for the newborn son of R' Menachem Zev Heilbrunn, at which the Rebbe was the sandek. During it, a conversation took place with the renowned mohel, Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Gelber shlit"a.

Afterwards, a lechayim and reception was held in the hall of the beis medrash. HaRav HaChasid R' Yissachar Yakobi, director of our holy mosdos, spoke and welcomed the Rebbe shlit"a, and mentioned HaRav HaChasid R' Meir Hirsch, who stands at the Rebbe's right hand in strengthening the mosdos at all times, and presented the Rebbe shlit"a with a general kvitel on behalf of the continuous learning hours of the talmidim of our holy mosdos.
The children sang warm melodies and Yiddish rhymes in honor of the occasion, while the Rebbe wept at length with emotions of longing for the holy city of Yerushalayim, may it be rebuilt.

The Rebbe drank a lechayim and delivered holy words on the verse "V'yiten licha Elokim," emphasizing the importance of the young years, which must be used to build oneself for the older years. The most important thing is the "hevel pihem" (the breath of the mouths) of schoolchildren, and in Yerushalayim it is even more important. This obligates every single person, and one must conduct oneself as befits a child of Yerushalayim. The Rebbe continued with words of guidance and concluded with his holy blessing.

After the holy words, the good commitments of all the children were handed to the Rebbe, and the Rebbe distributed a Zemiros for Chanukah, Divrei Yoel, to all the children.

Afterwards, the Rebbe went up to the upper floors of the talmud torah, where the Rebbe walked through the classrooms for an extended time and listened to the learning. The younger children were also gathered, and the Rebbe distributed sweets. Then, at around 1:30, the Rebbe shlit"a was escorted out with song and music.

At around 3:30 a delegation of Kollel Shomrei HaChomos, the rabbanim and administration of the kollel, headed by HaGaon HaGadol Rabbi Yehoshua Lieberman shlit"a, rosh hakollel of Shomrei HaChomos, entered a private audience at the guesthouse. They came to invite the Rebbe to deliver a derasha at the historic Kesav Sofer shul. A pleasant conversation ensued, HaRav R' Yitzchak Blau shlit"a, rosh hakollel, spoke, and the Rebbe bestowed his holy blessing upon them.

After a few minutes, the Rebbe went over to deliver the derasha. All the children were waiting around the entire Kiryat Kollel Shomrei HaChomos, standing all around and on the roofs and terraces, to greet the holy countenance of the Rebbe shlit"a with song and music.

The Rebbe shlit"a entered the Kesav Sofer beis medrash and greeted the rabbanim, among them HaGaon R' Matisyahu Deutsch shlit"a, av beis din of Ramat Shlomo, and then wrapped himself in his tallis.
HaGaon Rabbi Yehoshua Lieberman shlit"a, rosh hakollel, spoke and welcomed the Rebbe, and expressed the privilege that the Rebbe was coming to deliver holy words in the very place where our holy Rebbes, the Divrei Yoel and the Beirach Moshe zy"a, had spoken.
At around 5:00 the Rebbe began his holy words, a lengthy, deep pilpul of over an hour on the sugya of "sho'el shelo midaas," which captivated all the learners, as on Simchas Torah. At the end he issued a rousing call regarding the pressing matters of the day, concerning the decrees of the draft, saying that one must stand firm without compromise, and that all who compromise are raising a hand against the Torah of Moshe. He concluded with his holy blessing.

Afterwards, the Rebbe davened Mincha. The baal tefillah was HaRav HaChasid R' Yoel Waldman (Williamsburg). It concluded at around 5:50 and the Rebbe shlit"a was escorted out with song and music.

From there the Rebbe went for a brief visit to the Toldos Avraham Yitzchak Rebbe shlit"a, who is recovering, and the Rebbe inquired about his well-being and bestowed his holy blessing upon him.

At around 6:05 the Rebbe arrived at our great beis medrash for the hachnasas sefer Torah ceremony, by the anash in Yerushalayim, in memory of our holy Rebbes zy"a. The Rebbe took the Torah and danced with fiery joy for an extended time, and in the course of it stopped by the children's section and danced for a while.
HaRav HaChasid R' Avrohom Brach was honored with placing the sefer Torah in the Aron Kodesh, and the Rebbe recited "L'Dovid Mizmor" as customary. It concluded at around 6:25.

At the guesthouse, private audiences were held for anash residents of the holy city of Yerushalayim from around 7:00, with a long line stretching for nearly 6 hours of anash coming to be remembered for salvation and mercy.

During the audiences, the following visited privately:
- The Strafkov Rebbe shlit"a; a pleasant conversation took place, the Rebbe honored him with a lechayim and bestowed his holy blessing upon him.

- The Kalushin Rebbe shlit"a; a pleasant conversation took place, and the Rebbe bestowed his holy blessing upon him.

- HaGaon HaGadol Rabbi Moshe Mordechai Karp shlit"a; a pleasant learned conversation took place regarding the halachos of shmittah, and the Rebbe bestowed his holy blessing upon him.

- HaGaon R' Aharon Rubinfeld shlit"a, rosh yeshiva of Belz; a pleasant conversation took place and the Rebbe bestowed his holy blessing upon him.

- A delegation from the administration of Kollel Chibas Yerushalayim, headed by HaGaon HaGadol Rabbi Naftali Nussbaum shlit"a, rosh yeshiva of Chaim Moshe; HaGaon HaTzaddik R' Aharon Goldminzer shlit"a, dayan of Skver Yerushalayim; HaGaon HaTzaddik R' Shimon Shmuel Halberstam shlit"a, av beis din of Zanz Chakova and rosh hakollel of Toldos Elazar; HaGaon HaTzaddik R' Yitzchak Leib Schreiber-Sofer shlit"a, rosh yeshiva of Orchos HaTorah; HaGaon HaTzaddik R' Avi'ezer Shapira shlit"a, av beis din of Drohobych; and the directors of the kollel.
A pleasant conversation took place about the activities of the kollel, and they showed the Rebbe historic holy writings of the tzaddikim of the generations from the treasury of the kollel's office, among them the historic dedication booklet of the Shinover Rebbe zy"a, which contains full dedications from tzaddikim of the generations, may their merit protect us, headed by the Shinover Rebbe zy"a. The administration honored the Rebbe shlit"a to write his holy signature in it.
At the conclusion the Rebbe gave tzedakah, a generous contribution to the kollel, and bestowed his holy blessing.

- A delegation from the administration of Kollel Siebenbürgen; a pleasant conversation took place, the Rebbe inquired about the kollel's activities and bestowed his holy blessing.

- Likewise, several kollelim sent groups of their kollel members to be tested by the Rebbe shlit"a, among them young men of Gur chassidim in the framework of the "Mezumanim" program.
The Rebbe listened to each one's learning and bestowed his holy blessing.

The Rebbe davened Maariv at around 11:15 and then continued the audiences.

After the audiences, at around 1:10, the Rebbe shlit"a went for a visit to the Rachmistrivka Rebbe shlit"a. A lengthy conversation took place about the sanctity and purity of the mikvah. He honored the Rebbe with a lechayim, the Rebbe bestowed his holy blessing upon him, and he escorted the Rebbe shlit"a out.

At 1:45 the Rebbe arrived at the guesthouse of the philanthropist R' Yuda Dovid Rubinstein.
