The Satmar Rebbe shlit"a, in a holy letter, in an affectionate address to the members of the kehilla:

"..The upper beings rejoiced as the lower beings exulted; in this time of joy, the dwellers of the upper realms and the dwellers of the lower realms rejoice and exult together, as was often on the lips of our holy forefathers, our masters and teachers, may their memory be for a blessing, to mention during the days of Simchas Torah at the time of Hakafos what is stated in the holy Zohar: that the holy fathers, the tzaddikim, descend from the upper world, from the Garden of Eden, to take part in every joy of a mitzvah and to rejoice with us together in this world. Therefore, a crown shall the multitudes above, together with the assemblies below, give You, Hashem our God. Remember the love of fathers for their children, and may the fiery angels plead uprightly on our behalf, to bestow light and joy on all the people gathered on my day of joy; and when they come with the Sefer, may they bestow abundant blessing with all the blessings mentioned in the Torah. .."
