Shabbos Kodesh, Parshas Ki Savo — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

Friday night at around 7:45 the Rebbe entered the beis medrash and approached the amud for Mincha. Kabbalas Shabbos: R' Meir Dovid Heilbrunn. It concluded at around 9:20. The congregation went over to wish a gut Shabbos, and the Rebbe went into his private room.

At around 9:55 the Rebbe entered the Shulchan HaTahor in the Heichal HaShulchanos together with the talmidim of the Mesivta from Kiryas Joel, and began, in his holy manner, Shalom Aleichem with feeling and sweetness. Eishes Chayil: the Rebbe's grandson, the bochur Yissachar Ber T"B, son of the son-in-law of the Rebbe, HaGaon Rabbi, Rav of the Beirach Moshe beis medrash shlit"a. Lifting of the cup (Hagbahas HaKos): HaGaon R' Moshe Dovid Horowitz shlit"a, Rav in the Beirach Moshe beis medrash of our holy kehilla in Boro Park.

The Rebbe shlit"a honored the following with the zemiros.
- Kol Mekadesh: Rabbi Naftali Tzvi Broda shlit"a (Bnei Brak).
- Menucha V'Simcha: the Rebbe's grandson Rabbi Chaim Hersh Teitelbaum shlit"a (Boro Park), son of the son-in-law of HaGaon Rabbi, Rav of the Beirach Moshe beis medrash shlit"a.
The Rebbe shlit"a said Torah on the verse "And now, behold, I have brought the first of the fruit of the ground," and explained in the manner of a derush the topic of a mitzvah that comes through a transgression (mitzvah haba'ah ba'aveirah).

Stories and accounts: This week the Rebbe shlit"a related about his ancestor, the holy Rabbi Mordechai Dov of Hornosteipel zy"a, whose yahrzeit falls on Monday, 22 Elul.

The new chassanim went over to take shirayim.

On Shabbos Kodesh morning the Rebbe entered the beis medrash at around 9:40. Berachos and Pesukei D'Zimra: R' Hershel son of R' Berish Fried. The Rebbe approached the amud for Shacharis.

At Shalosh Seudos the Rebbe honored the following with the zemiros.

- Shir HaMa'alos: R' Moshe Goldstein.

The Rebbe shlit"a said Torah on the verse "And now, behold, I have brought the first of the fruit of the ground," and explained that in the days of Elul, when one must do teshuva for the deeds of an entire year, one must reflect on where one comes from, because relative to the holy Avos, the damage above is far greater, and when one does proper teshuva, the merit of the Avos protects and brings down all good. With tears he aroused the congregation: when we say in Selichos "Zochalim v'Ro'adim miYom Bo'echa," one must reflect whether one says it with the whole heart, and make use of the final days of the year to prepare for Rosh Hashana.

The Rebbe made the blessing over the cup and recited Sheva Berachos.

Maariv of Motzei Shabbos: R' Yaakov son of R' Leib Kohn. After Havdalah the congregation went over to wish a gutte vochen. It concluded at around 10:10.

At around 11:15 there took place in the Rebbe's holy home a ceremony of writing the letters (kesivas ha'osios) for the Sefer Torah being written by R' Gedalya Masya Lenarovitch, together with the mispallelim of the Divrei Yoel beis medrash, and the first Selichos was held in the Divrei Yoel beis medrash. The Rebbe wrote in a few letters, drank lechayim, and extended blessings to R' Gedalya Masya, to HaGaon R' Dovid Yitzchak Wertzberger shlit"a, dayan of the beis medrash, and to all the mispallelim of the beis medrash.
