Sunday, Parshas Shoftim, Rosh Chodesh Elul, 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

In the morning, before davening, a bris took place for the newborn son of R' Yisroel Shalom Teitelbaum, where the Rebbe was sandek and mohel.

The Rebbe davened Shacharis in Yeshiva Gedolah, Kedushas Yoel branch. Before davening, the Rebbe put tefillin on the bar mitzvah bochurim:
- The bochur Yitzchak Feuerstein.
- The bochur Berish Gefen.
- The bochur Yoel son of Yechezkel Klein.
- The bochur Avrohom Nosson Nete Rosenfeld.

The Rebbe went up to the amud for the recital of Hallel and was called up for the Torah reading as the fourth aliya. After davening, a lechayim was held with the bar mitzvah bochurim in his private room.

At around 2:00 the Rebbe set out on the way to Machane Bais Rochel in South Fallsburg, for the annual visit to the camp. The Rebbe arrived at around 2:50 and greeted the camp administration and the heads of the mosdos. The Rebbe then entered the Shaarei Shalva building, where all the camp's students were gathered.
The Rebbe went up to the platform and delivered a lengthy address of guidance to the students on matters of tznius and the foundations of the home, strongly emphasizing the importance of a Jewish mother, who builds a Jewish home, and the merit of establishing upright and chassidic generations. The Rebbe concluded with his holy blessing.

Afterward, the Rebbe went over to the home of R' Yudel son of Meir Hirsch, where the writing of the letters for his Sefer Torah took place; the Sefer Torah was later brought in the afternoon to the camp's beis medrash. The Rebbe wrote several letters and honored the family members with writing a letter. Several niggunim were sung, and the Rebbe drank lechayim and extended good wishes to R' Yudel, to his father R' Meir Hirsch, to his father-in-law R' Avrohom Yuda Rosenberg, and to the entire family. It concluded at around 3:45 and the Rebbe traveled home to his holy residence in Kiryas Joel.

Entry for the public (zmanei kenisa) ran from 6:20 until 12:30 at night in his holy residence on Ohel Court. At around 7:00 the Rebbe davened Mincha in his holy residence. After Mincha, the Rebbe officiated at the kiddushin at the chuppah of the mechutanim:
- R' Shalom Yosef Levinger and R' Lipa Dresdner, in the Bais Rochel Paradise halls.
- R' Yitzchak Hersh Friedrich and R' Aharon Goldstein, in the Ginas Klein halls.

At around 10:15 the Rebbe went down to the tenaim hall in his holy residence, where the Rebbe read the tenaim of the mechutanim R' Moshe Meir Dov Glick and R' Shlomo Zalman Gelb.

During the entry hours, HaGaon HaTzaddik, the Rav of the Beis Baruch beis medrash shlit"a, entered to receive the Rebbe's blessing in honor of his departure this week to the holy places in Europe. The Rebbe inquired about the itinerary and the plan to be on Shabbos Kodesh Parshas Shoftim in the city of the forefathers, Sighet, on the yahrzeit of the holy Yetev Lev zy"a, and the Rebbe warmly extended his holy blessing.

HaGaon HaTzaddik Rabbi Shmuel Binyamin Kraus shlit"a, l'refuah shleima, the president of Yeshivas Toras Chaim of London, also entered to give and receive blessings ahead of the Yamim Noraim, may they come upon us for good. The Rebbe inquired about his well-being and warmly extended his holy blessing. The Rebbe davened Maariv at around 12:30.

Monday, Parshas Shoftim, Rosh Chodesh Elul


In the morning the Rebbe davened Shacharis in Yeshiva Ketana, Yetev Panim branch, under the direction of Rabbi Chaim Leib Zilberstein shlit"a. Before davening, the Rebbe put tefillin on the bar mitzvah bochur, the bochur Shlomo Leifer. The Rebbe went up to the amud for the recital of Hallel and was called up for the Torah reading as the fourth aliya. After davening, "L'Dovid Hashem Ori" was recited as customary, and then the Rebbe blew shofar and then recited the ten chapters of Tehillim as is customary in the month of Elul.

After davening, a lechayim gathering took place in the hall of the beis medrash. Several niggunim were sung, and the Rebbe drank lechayim and extended good wishes to the bar mitzvah bochur and to the rebbeim and students of the yeshiva.

Afterward, the Rebbe went over to the home of the elder, R' Yoshe Mendlowitz, where a bris took place for the newborn son of his grandson R' Avrohom Mendlowitz, son of HaGaon R' Yaakov Elazar z"l, Rav of the Halacha Brurah beis medrash, where the Rebbe was sandek.
After the bris, a lechayim gathering took place and the Rebbe extended good wishes to the father of the baby, to the elder R' Yoshe, and to the entire family.

Entry for the public ran from 6:30 until 12:10 at night in his holy residence on Ohel Court. At around 7:15 the Rebbe officiated at the kiddushin at the chuppah of the mechutanim:
- R' Michel Berish Friedman and Rabbi Elazar Rubinfeld shlit"a, in the Kinor David halls.
- R' Aharon Shlomo Weiss and R' Shmuel Goldstein, in the Bais Rochel Paradise halls.
Between the chuppos, the Rebbe davened Mincha in his holy residence.

At around 10:30 the Rebbe went down to the tenaim hall in his holy residence, where the Rebbe read the tenaim of the mechutanim Rabbi Yoel Greenwald shlit"a and Rabbi Shalom Yosef Samet shlit"a.

During the entry hours, HaGaon HaTzaddik Rabbi Yoshe Shalom Nosson Rubin shlit"a, Av Beis Din of Glogau, entered to give and receive blessings ahead of the Yamim Noraim, may they come upon us for good, and the Rebbe warmly extended his holy blessing. The Rebbe davened Maariv at around 12:10.
