Thursday, Parshas Chukas — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

Before davening, the following brissim took place:
- The son born to R' Moshe Yosef Friedman, where the Rebbe served as sandek and mohel.
- The son born to HaRav Chaim Yoshe Levi shlit"a, where the Rebbe served as sandek.

The Rebbe davened Shacharis in the Ohel Piga beis medrash on the occasion of the simcha of the bris milah of his grandson, born to Rabbi Yisroel Dushinsky shlit"a, son of his relative (mechutan) HaGaon HaTzaddik, the Rav of the Ohel Piga beis medrash shlit"a, and son-in-law of HaRav HaTzaddik Rabbi Avrohom Yehoshua Eiger shlit"a of Lublin.
Before davening, the Rebbe put tefillin on the bar mitzvah bochurim:
- The bochur Yoel Kornbluh shlit"a, son of Rabbi Yoel Kornbluh.
- The bochur Binyomin HaKohen Landau.
- The bochur Hillel Neiman.
- The bochur Meir Mordechai Budek.

The following were honored during the Torah reading:
- Petucha: R' Naftali Hersh Zahler.
- Kohen: the bar mitzvah bochur Binyomin Landau.
- Levi: Rabbi Yekusiel Hersh Levi shlit"a.
- Shlishi: the baal bris, HaRav Yisroel Dushinsky shlit"a.
- Hagbah: the Rebbe shlit"a.
- Gelilah: Rabbi Yoel Kornbluh shlit"a.

After davening, the simchas bris milah took place in the main hall of the beis medrash, and the Rebbe shlit"a was honored with sandek.
- Sandek (standing): his relative (mechutan) HaGaon HaTzaddik, the Rav of the Ohel Piga beis medrash shlit"a.
- Brachos and naming: HaGaon HaTzaddik, the Av Beis Din of Lublin shlit"a. The child was named in Yisroel: 'Mordechai Menachem,' after the grandfather, HaGaon HaTzaddik, the Av Beis Din of Lublin zt"l.
After the bris, the entire congregation came over to wish mazel tov to the Rebbe shlit"a and to the distinguished grandfathers. Afterward, a lechayim was held with the bar mitzvah bochurim in the Rebbe's private room.

A few minutes later, the Rebbe shlit"a entered the seudas bris in the main hall of the beis medrash. At the seudah, the baal simcha, the father of the baby, HaRav Yisroel shlit"a, spoke, as did the grandfathers, the Rav of the Ohel Piga beis medrash shlit"a and HaRav HaTzaddik Rabbi Avrohom Yehoshua Eiger shlit"a. The Rebbe honored R' Naftali Hersh Zahler with Yom Liyabasha. Afterward, the Rebbe shared holy words on the topic of bris milah, and wished blessings to the baal simcha shlit"a, to the distinguished grandfathers, and to the entire congregation.

The Rebbe recited the blessing over the cup and honored the family members with the Harachaman's. The seudah ended at about 1:45.

On his way out of the beis medrash, the Rebbe looked over the construction work on the adjacent grand new building, which is progressing at a very rapid pace for the benefit of the students of Beis Rochel in our holy institutions. Afterward, the Rebbe went over to the home of the Rav of the Ohel Piga beis medrash shlit"a, where the Rebbe wished mazel tov to the new mothers.

At about 4:00 in the afternoon, an assembly, 'Kinus Sofrim,' took place in the hall of the Rebbe's holy home on Zanz St., for over sixty sofrim, residents of Kiryas Joel, headed by the Rebbe shlit"a and HaGaon HaGadol, the Av Beis Din shlit"a.

HaRav R' Wolf Aharon Teller shlit"a, chairman of the Beis Din, opened the assembly and called upon HaRav R' Yoel Gutman shlit"a, chairman of the Vaad HaSTa"M of the Beis Din, to say a few opening words.
Afterward, the Rebbe delivered a lengthy address and words of guidance to the sofrim, and emphasized the tremendous responsibility of a sofer, especially regarding mezuzos, a mitzvah that a person fulfills every moment it is on his door, and which brings the blessing of "so that your days may be increased." The Rebbe strongly urged the sofrim to regularly review the halachos, as is the practice with a shochet.
The Rebbe then spoke at length about bringing in mezuzos from outside sources, especially from Eretz Yisroel. The Rebbe laid down the principle: a sofer is not a merchant! If someone cannot keep up with his orders, he should take them from another local sofer or, b'dieved, from a sofer in Eretz Yisroel who is certified as reliable by the Vaad HaSTa"M.

The Rebbe concluded with abundant blessings for all the sofrim. Afterward, a pleasant conversation about sofrus developed with HaGaon HaGadol, the Av Beis Din shlit"a, and the Deesh Rebbe of Kiryas Joel shlit"a, one of the distinguished sofrim. Several sofrim posed various questions, to which the Rebbe responded with sound reasoning and insight. The gathering ended at about 4:45.

Afterward, the Rebbe went over to the home of R' Eliezer Dovid Epstein, where the writing of the letters for the sefer Torah took place, which he will be bringing in this coming Sunday, Parshas Korach, to the main beis medrash. Songs of inspiration were sung and the Rebbe wrote several letters in the sefer Torah.
The Rebbe drank a lechayim and warmly wished blessings to R' Eliezer Dovid and his family and to the entire congregation.
In the evening, the Rebbe officiated at kiddushin at the chuppah of the mechutanim:
- R' Daniel Masri and R' Yoel Masri, in the Beis Rochel Paradise halls.
- Rabbi Shmuel Yuda Paskes shlit"a and Rabbi Pinchas Hersh Reich shlit"a, in the Ginas Klein halls.

At about 8:20 the Rebbe davened Mincha in his holy home on Eihel St.
Afterward, there was yechidus until 1:45 at night in his holy home.

During yechidus, the Shinover Rebbe shlit"a, who is spending Shabbos in Kiryas Joel, came for a visit. A pleasant conversation about stories of tzaddikim ensued, and the Rebbe honored him with a lechayim and wished him a blessing.

Also visiting was HaGaon HaTzaddik, the Av Beis Din of Hibnov shlit"a, who is vacationing in Kiryas Joel these days. A pleasant conversation developed about the holy Baal Ach Pri Tevuah of Liska zt"l, and the Rebbe warmly wished him a blessing.

Also entering the Rebbe's room was HaGaon HaTzaddik, the Av Beis Din of London shlit"a, who is in New York these weeks. A conversation took place about the expansion of the boundaries of holiness of our holy kehilla in London. In this connection, the Rebbe blessed larger sums of money, which will be distributed to the members of our kollel in London, donated by the philanthropist R' Moshe Yaakov Yosef Brach. The Rebbe warmly wished blessings to the Rav shlit"a and to the donor, the philanthropist R' Moshe Yaakov Yosef.

At about 10:30 the Rebbe went down to the tenaim hall in his holy home, where the Rebbe read the tenaim of the mechutanim:
- HaRav R' Naftali Hirtzka Zwebel shlit"a, and Rabbi Shmuel Dovid Horowitz shlit"a
- R' Azriel Yuda Katz and R' Shlomo Zalman Schwartz.

The Rebbe davened Maariv at about 12:50, and after Maariv continued to receive the public.
