Shabbos Kodesh, Parshas Vaeschanan — Shabbos Nachamu, "B'tzeil HaKodesh" with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a in the resort town of Bethlehem, New Hampshire

For Shabbos Kodesh, the talmidim of the Mesivta, Divrei Yoel branch, and some talmidim of the Vayoel Moshe branch were chosen for "B'tzeil HaKodesh."

On Erev Shabbos after the mikvah, they presented answers to the Rebbe's question.

On Friday night at around 8:20 the Rebbe entered the beis medrash wrapped in his tallis and approached the amud for Mincha. Kabbalas Shabbos: HaGaon R' Yosef Dovid Levi shlit"a, a rebbi in the yeshiva. The davening concluded at around 9:50, the congregation went over to wish a gut Shabbos and to greet the Rebbe, and the Rebbe went into his private room.

At around 10:10 the Rebbe came to the holy tish together with the yeshiva talmidim and many guests, and began, as is his custom, with Shalom Aleichem with feeling and sweetness.

Eishes Chayil: the Rebbe's grandson the bochur Yissachar Ber Teitelbaum, son of the Rebbe's son-in-law (chasan) the HaGaon HaTzaddik, Rav of the Beis Medrash Beirach Moshe, shlit"a. The Rebbe shlit"a honored people with the zemiros. Kol Mekadesh: Rabbi Avrohom Dovid Wagschal shlit"a (Monsey). Menucha V'Simcha: Rabbi Avrohom Yeshua Wertzberger shlit"a, a rebbi in the yeshiva.

The Rebbe said Torah on the verse "Va'eschanan el Hashem ba'eis hahi" and explained, in the manner of a drush, the topic of whether Eretz Yisroel is ours by right of inheritance from our forefathers.

Stories and anecdotes: this week the Rebbe shlit"a told over about the holy Rebbe, the author of Ach Pri Tevuah of Lisk zy"a, whose yahrzeit falls on 14 Av. Kah Ribon Olam: HaGaon R' Avrohom Yaakov Yakov shlit"a, a rebbi in the yeshiva. The new chasanim went over to take fruit. Ki Bayom Hashvi'i: Rabbi Avrohom Yitzchak Kahira shlit"a, a rebbi in the yeshiva. It concluded at around 1:10.

The Rebbe came over to the beis medrash for zemiros and divrei Torah at around 2:45. They sang melodies of redemption and consolation. The Rebbe tasted challah and kugel and wished "Lechaim."

The Rebbe said Torah on the Midrash "Moshe said to the Holy One, Blessed is He: Yosef's bones enter Eretz Yisroel and I will not enter," and explained, in the manner of a drush, the topic of whether before the giving of the Torah the law applied was that of a Jew or that of a descendant of Noach.

Ra'avah D'ra'avin

For Mincha and Seudah Shlishis the Rebbe entered the beis medrash at around 8:15. Mincha: Rabbi Yaakov Yosef Pilif shlit"a (Kiryas Joel). Hotzaah and Hachnasah: R' Meir Steinmetz (Kiryas Joel). Kohen: R' Yechezkel Shraga Glantz (Kiryas Joel). Levi: HaGaon R' Yosef Dovid Levi shlit"a. Shlishi: the bochur, son of Tuvia Lipa Gross. Hagbah: the Rebbe shlit"a — it was purchased by R' Tuvia Lipa Gross, and the Rebbe thanked him. Gelilah: the child, son of Tuvia Lipa Gross.

At Seudah Shlishis, the zemiros were honored as follows. Odeh: R' Mordechai Hersh Goldman. Shir HaMaalos: R' Kalman Pilif.

The Rebbe shlit"a said Torah on the verse "V'yadata hayom vahasheivosa el levavecha" and explained that from the destruction of the Beis HaMikdash one can draw consolation, for every good deed and every word of Torah makes a preparation and a spiritual impression for later.

Maariv for Motzei Shabbos: Rabbi Chaim Dovid Fried shlit"a, a rebbi in the yeshiva. After Havdalah the congregation went over to wish a gutte voch. It concluded at around 10:45.
