Shabbos Kodesh, Parshas Devarim, Shabbos Chazon — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a — in the resort town of Bethlehem, New Hampshire

For Shabbos Kodesh, the talmidim of the Mesivta, Beirach Moshe branch, chose to be "b'tzeil hakodesh" (in the shadow of the Rebbe).

On Erev Shabbos, after the mikvah, the talmidim of the Mesivta took leave of the Rebbe (greeted the Rebbe), and the following bochurim presented answers to the Rebbe's question:

On Friday night at around 8:35 the Rebbe entered the beis medrash wrapped in his tallis and approached the amud for Mincha. Kabbalas Shabbos: HaGaon R' Dovid Shlomo Laub shlit"a, a member of the leadership of our holy kehilla in Monsey. The davening concluded at around 10:15.

After davening, the congregation went over to wish a gut Shabbos and greet the Rebbe, and the Rebbe went into his private room.

At around 10:35 the Rebbe entered the shulchan hatahor together with the talmidim of the Mesivta and many guests, and began, as is his custom, with "Shalom Aleichem" with feeling and sweetness.
Eishes Chayil: the Rebbe's grandson, the bochur Yitzchak Eizik Teitelbaum, son of the HaGaon HaTzaddik, Rav of the Beis Baruch beis medrash, shlit"a. Raising the cup: the Rebbe's grandson, Rabbi Lipa Ashkenazi shlit"a, son-in-law of the HaGaon HaTzaddik, Rav of the Avnei Tzedek beis medrash, shlit"a.

The Rebbe shlit"a honored people with the zemiros. Kol Mekadesh: R' Chaim Elimelech Yakov shlit"a, a rebbi in the Mesivta. Menucha V'Simcha: R' Hershel Ashkenazi shlit"a, son-in-law of the Spinka Rebbe shlit"a.

The Rebbe shlit"a said Torah on the verse "Eileh haDevarim asher diber Moshe" and explained, in the manner of a derush, the sugya of "Dibra Torah bilshon bnei adam" (the Torah speaks in the language of men).

Kah Echsof: the Rebbe's grandson, Rabbi Lipa Ashkenazi shlit"a. Birkas Hamazon: HaGaon R' Hillel Rabinovitch shlit"a, director of the yeshiva.

Stories and anecdotes: this week the Rebbe shlit"a related about the holy Rebbe of Lublin zy"a, whose yahrzeit falls on Tuesday, Tisha B'Av.

Kah Ribon Olam: the Rebbe's grandson, Rabbi Baruch Rokeach shlit"a, son-in-law of the HaGaon HaTzaddik, Rav of the Ohel Feiga beis medrash, shlit"a. The new chasanim went over to take fruit. Az B'Yom HaShvi'i: R' Yosef Dov Rosenfeld shlit"a (Kiryas Joel). It concluded at around 1:25.

The Rebbe came over to the beis medrash for the zemiros and divrei Torah at around 2:50. The niggunim of golus and geulah were sung. The Rebbe tasted challah and kugel and wished "L'chaim."
The Rebbe honored people with the zemiros. Baruch Hashem Yom Yom: R' Meshulam Feish Kahana shlit"a. Baruch Kel Elyon: R' Yaakov Shalom Weiss shlit"a (Kiryas Joel).
The Rebbe said Torah on the verse "Hashem Elokei avoseichem yosef aleichem kachem elef pe'amim" and explained, in the manner of a derush, the sugya of "Schar mitzvah b'hai alma leika" (there is no reward for a mitzvah in this world).

They continued with several niggunim. Birkas Hamazon: the Rebbe's grandson, Rabbi Baruch Rokeach shlit"a. It concluded at around 3:40.

Raava d'Raavin

The Rebbe entered for Mincha and Seudah Shlishis at around 8:35. Mincha: R' Yaakov Feigel. Hotzaah and Hachnasah: R' Avrohom Yosef Shalamon (Williamsburg). Kohen: R' Simcha Bunim Turnheim (Williamsburg). Levi: R' Yekusiel Hersh Weiss (Montreal). Shlishi: R' Refoel Berish Wertheimer (Kiryas Joel). Hagbah: the Rebbe shlit"a — it was purchased by R' Yechiel Michel Berkowitz shlit"a, and the Rebbe thanked him. Gelilah: the bochur, son of HaGaon R' Yosef Mordechai Wagschal shlit"a (Kiryas Joel).

At Seudah Shlishis the entire congregation went over to take shirayim from the fish. The Rebbe honored people with the zemiros. Odeh: R' Aharon Mattisyahu Deutsch. Shir HaMaalos: R' Mordechai Klein.

The Rebbe shlit"a said Torah on the verse in the haftarah "Chazon Yeshayahu ben Amotz asher chazah al Yehuda v'Yerushalayim" and explained that the way of the yetzer hara is first to persuade toward lesser aveiros, and through this an angel is created, a enticer toward graver aveiros. This can be nullified through the recital of Krias Shema in the morning and evening. Nowadays, every Jew must reflect on the prophecy and consider whether he is, chas v'shalom, adding sin upon transgression and delaying the geulah, and correct his deeds.
