Shabbos Kodesh, Parshas Balak — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

On Friday night at around 9:00 the Rebbe entered the beis medrash wrapped in his tallis and approached the amud for Mincha and Kabbalas Shabbos: R' Shlomo Weiss (Boro Park). The davening concluded at around 10:35, the congregation went over to wish a gut Shabbos, and the Rebbe went into his private room.

At around 11:05 the Rebbe entered the holy table in the Heichal HaShulchanos together with the talmidim of the mesivta and began, as is his custom, with Shalom Aleichem with feeling and sweetness.
Eishes Chayil: the Rebbe's grandson, the bochur Yissachar Ber Tov, son-in-law of the Rebbe's son-in-law HaGaon Rabbi, the Rav of the Beirach Moshe beis medrash shlit"a. Hagbahas HaKos: R' Shmuel Zanvil Siegler (Shikun Skvira).

The Rebbe shlit"a delivered a Torah thought on the verse "And Moav was terrified of the people, for they were many," and expounded in the manner of drush on the topic of chatzi shiur.

Stories and accounts: This week the Rebbe shlit"a related stories about his ancestor, the holy Rabbi Moshe Dovid Ashkenazi zy"a of Tolcsva, whose yahrzeit falls on Wednesday, 18 Tammuz.

Shabbos Day

On Shabbos morning the Rebbe entered for davening at around 9:40. Birchos HaShachar and Pesukei D'Zimra: HaGaon R' Yechezkel Gelbstein shlit"a. The Rebbe approached the amud for Shacharis, and sent his grandson Rabbi Yoel Ashkenazi shlit"a, son-in-law of the Rebbe's son-in-law HaGaon Rabbi, the Rav of the Avnei Tzedek beis medrash shlit"a, to lead the chazaras hashatz.

At Shalosh Seudos the Rebbe honored people with the zemiros. Odeh: R' Shlomo Tzvi Eckstein. Shir HaMaalos: R' Moshe Goldstein.

The Rebbe delivered a Torah thought on the verse "He has not beheld iniquity in Yaakov," and explained that through the power of the holiness of the holy Torah, one can emerge from all of the 50 gates of impurity, and one can make the proper preparation for the holy days. Uv'Chein Ava El HaMelech — the 72 days from the 17th of Tammuz until Rosh Hashana — one should make a true introspection, so that these days have the proper meaning, the proper preparation, and the proper thoughts of teshuva.

Yedid Nefesh: R' Dovid Neustadt. Kel Mistateir: R' Chaim Eli Rottah. The Rebbe bentched on the cup and recited Sheva Berachos.

Maariv for Motzei Shabbos: R' Shlomo Zalman Stein. After Havdalah the congregation went over to wish a gut voch. The Rebbe was escorted out with Ki Malachav on the occasion of his traveling for the week to New Hampshire for rest and rejuvenation. The davening concluded at around 11:10.
After Havdalah, a group of bochurim, talmidim of the Yeshiva Gedolah of Shikun Skvira, who had spent Shabbos b'tzeil hakodesh, entered the Rebbe's holy home. The Rebbe asked about their learning and bestowed his holy blessing upon them.

After 2:00 the Rebbe went to the new location of "Tina" (Drive Goods), a clothing store on Karlsburg, owned by R' Yoel Eli Schwartz, which has opened to sell the new tzniusdig clothing especially suited for the students of Beis Rachel for the coming season. The Rebbe affixed a mezuzah on the main entrance and then looked around the store. Afterwards a lechayim was held, a pleasant conversation ensued, and the Rebbe drank lechayim and bestowed his holy blessing upon the owner, all the employees, and the administration of the mosdos.
