Sunday, Parshas Balak — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

The Rebbe davened Shacharis in Heichal HaMesivta, the Kedushas Yoel branch. Before davening, the Rebbe put tefillin on the bar mitzvah bochurim.

After davening, the Rebbe delivered the daily Tehillim shiur on chapter 22, verse 2. Afterwards, a lechayim was held with the bar mitzvah bochurim in the Rebbe's private room.

During the morning hours, the Av Beis Din of Tenka shlit"a, HaGaon Rabbi, came for a visit in the Rebbe's holy home in Kiryas Joel in honor of the bar mitzvah simcha of his grandson, mazel tov, the son of his son R' Mordechai Friedman shlit"a, rav of Beis Medrash Yirei Hashem in the Boruch Taam neighborhood, which took place in Kiryas Joel. A pleasant conversation ensued about various customs regarding the mitzvah of tefillin, left-handed people, and so on. The Rebbe honored him with a lechayim and bestowed his holy blessings upon him, upon his son, the Rav of Beis Medrash Yirei Hashem shlit"a, and upon the bar mitzvah bochur.

At around 1:20, the Rebbe went over to the halls of Beis Rachel Paradise for the Chumash seudah with over five hundred students, may they multiply, from the 21 classes from first grade and up, from all the branches of Mosdos Kiryas Yoel.
The children sang several songs and rhymes in honor of the occasion, and recited the verses of Chumash Vayikra, led by the principals Rabbi Yoel Acker shlit"a, Rabbi Dovid Chanania Weiss shlit"a, and Rabbi Dovid Falkowitz shlit"a. The Rebbe drank a lechayim, delivered a few brief words of Torah and a blessing, and distributed a gift to all the children, a Krias Shema She'al HaMitah booklet. The Rebbe also presented a gift to the distinguished R' Moshe Goldstein, who had purchased the merit of the occasion, and distributed shirayim to the grandchildren. Afterwards the children stood up and danced while the Rebbe watched with great nachas for an extended time. It concluded at around 2:40.

In the afternoon, the Rebbe went up to Heichal HaYeshiva, the Birkas Moshe branch, where the Rebbe learned with a chavrusa from among the yeshiva students in his private room.

Late in the afternoon, a meeting took place in the Rebbe's holy home with the leadership of our holy kehilla of Montreal together with HaGaon Rabbi Mendel Wertzberger shlit"a, dayan of our kehilla in Montreal, regarding the final plans for the renewal of the mosdos in Montreal, which will open in the coming school year, b'ezras Hashem. The Rebbe went through all the details, gave guidance to the leadership, and bestowed his holy blessings.

In the evening, the Rebbe officiated at the kiddushin at the chuppah of the mechutanim R' Meir Wertheimer and R' Yaakov Yuda Gefen, in the hall of Beis Rachel Paradise.

Yechidus hours in the Rebbe's holy home on Ohel Court were from 7:50 until 12:00 at night.

During yechidus hours, a group of bochurim, students of the Mesivta, Divrei Yoel branch, presented themselves for examination before the Rebbe shlit"a on all of Hilchos Shabbos. They are:

The bochur Elimelech, son of Rabbi Chaim Aryeh Kahana shlit"a.
The bochur Yaakov Kapel Yosef, son of Yoel Friedrich.
The bochur Shimon Yisroel, son of Nechemya Wertzberger.
The bochur Getzel, son of Yoel Rubinstein.
The bochur Nechemya Tzvi, son of Chaim Avrohom Rosenfeld.
The bochur Meir, son of Avrohom Leib Klein.

At around 8:50, the Rebbe davened Mincha in his holy home.

The Rebbe shlit"a read the tenaim at the tenaim gathering in the hall of his holy home, between the mechutanim R' Avrohom Moshe Landau and R' Yoel Bra"i Weiss.

The Rebbe davened Maariv at around 12:00.
