"And you shall make for yourself the festival of Shavuos, the first fruits of the wheat harvest"

Yesterday, Sunday, immediately after the conclusion of Yom Tov Shavuos, the dayanim who certify the wheat traveled on a holy mission from the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a to Woodland, California — a place where rain is not common — HaGaon Rabbi Hersh Leib Bernstein shlit"a, dayan of Beis Medrash Beis Menachem Tzvi of our holy kehilla in Williamsburg, and HaGaon Rabbi Yoel Yitzchak Stern shlit"a, dayan of Beis Medrash Dinov in Kiryas Joel, for the second wheat harvest, choice wheat without any doubts or concerns of sprouting or splitting, for Pesach 5785, IY"H.

With them traveled the supervisors R' Yoel Shlomo Zaldan, on behalf of the bakery of Kiryas Joel, and R' Baruch Yehuda Spitzer, on behalf of the bakery of our kehilla in Williamsburg.

Likewise, the Rav of our kehilla in Williamsburg shlit"a traveled especially to be present from close by at the current wheat harvest.

As already reported, the first harvest took place in Yuma, Arizona, during the week of Lag B'Omer, where close to a quarter million acres... were harvested — nearly half a million pounds of wheat for the sake of the mitzvah of matzah. The choice wheat has already, Baruch Hashem, arrived in New York a week before Shavuos.

Since, according to estimates, the amount is far from enough for the coming year, and given the wide demand for choice matzos, much more wheat is needed. The fields planted in Arizona could not meet the need, because one of the local fields did not succeed in coming out one hundred percent according to the choice standards the Rebbe shlit"a set, and out of extra stringency it was left aside. Therefore, per the holy instruction of the Rebbe shlit"a, they traveled to search in the California fields, where, with Hashem's help, they found the right fields and exceptionally choice wheat.

"As was his deed the first time, so is his deed the second time": with all the chumros and hiddurim, today — beginning at 1 o'clock, chatzos hayom (4 o'clock New York time) — the same amount of close to half a million pounds of wheat is being harvested once again for the sake of the mitzvah.
