Tuesday, Parshas Emor — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

The Satmar Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in the Heichal HaMesivta, Etz Chaim branch, Shiur Gimmel. Before davening, the Rebbe put tefillin on the bar mitzvah bochurim.

After davening, the Rebbe recited the daily Tehillim shiur, on chapter 20, verse 2. Afterwards, the talmidei hayeshiva, more than 1,200 in number, came over to take leave of the Rebbe shlit"a before the start of the new zman, and a lechayim was held with the bar mitzvah bochurim in the Heichal of the beis medrash.

In the afternoon, at around 5:10, the Rebbe arrived at the Heichal HaMesivta, 'Vayoel Moshe' branch, for the opening address of the zman for the more than 1,200 talmidei hayeshiva. The Rebbe first davened Mincha in the Heichal of the beis medrash, and at around 5:30 began the opening address of the zman with words of Torah and aggadah on the weekly parsha. He spoke about the fact that the yeshiva is currently learning Perek HaMafkid, the halachos of a shomer chinam and a shomer sachar, and strongly urged the bochurim to make use of their bochur years in Torah and yiras shamayim, to be a guardian over the neshama, and to build a firm foundation for their whole lives. He then continued with guidance and mussar: to adhere to the yeshiva's schedule, to go to the mikvah every day, to learn sifrei mussar and chassidus regularly, the beauty of the Shabbosos in yeshiva and the elevated nature of the Seudas Raava D'Raavin, and to do acts of kindness for one another. He repeated the takana of the Rebbe, the founder of the yeshiva zy"a, not to attend weddings, and strongly emphasized the takana not to drive. He quoted the holy words of the Rebbe zy"a, who expressed himself very sharply on the matter of bochurim not driving. He concluded with words of chizuk to the bochurim regarding matters of hashkafa and Zionism, and the privilege the bochurim have to learn in the yeshiva of the Rebbe zy"a, and then finished with words of blessing. It ended at around 6:20.

In the evening the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a traveled into Williamsburg for the weekly reception hours.
Upon arriving in Williamsburg, the Rebbe first paid a shiva call to the Kahana family, who were sitting shiva for their elderly mother a"h, widow of R' Yosef Mordechai Kahana a"h.
Afterwards, the Rebbe paid a shiva call to the Peketeh family, who were sitting shiva for their elderly father, R' Yaakov Peketeh a"h.

The reception hours at the Rebbe's holy home on Hewes St. were from 8:45 until 12:45 after midnight.

During the reception hours, the administration of Kollel Shomrei HaChomos entered the Rebbe's room to receive a blessing in honor of the upcoming annual dinner, taking place next Tuesday on Pesach Sheni. The Rebbe heard a report on their recent activities and bestowed from his holy blessing.

The Rebbe davened Maariv at around 11:30 and counted the Sefira before the amud, and afterwards continued receiving the public.

After the reception hours, the Rebbe paid a shiva call to R' Yaakov Glick, on the passing of his elderly brother, R' Moshe Glick a"h.
