Shabbos Kodesh, Parshas Re'eh, Shabbos Mevarchim Elul — 'B'tzeil HaKodesh' with the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a

On Friday night at around 8:35 the Rebbe shlit"a entered the beis medrash wrapped in his tallis and went to the amud for Mincha and Kabbalas Shabbos: R' Chaim Shlomo Kraus.

The davening ended at around 10:05, the congregation went over to wish a gut Shabbos, and the Rebbe went into his private room.

At around 10:40 the Rebbe shlit"a came in to the Shabbos table in the Heichal HaShulchanos together with the talmidim of the Mesivta and a distinguished group of men, supporters of our holy mosdos in Bnei Brak, and began, in his holy way, Shalom Aleichem with feeling and sweetness.

Eishes Chayil: the Rebbe's grandson, the bochur Meir Eliezer, may he be well, son of HaGaon HaTzaddik Rabbi Moshe shlit"a, Rav of the beis medrash Beirach Moshe. Raising of the cup: HaGaon Rabbi Efraim Zalman Sternbuch shlit"a, son of the Posek HaDor, Mara d'Asra of Eretz Yisroel shlit"a.

For the zemiros, the Rebbe shlit"a honored his grandsons, sons-in-law of the HaGaon HaTzaddik, Av Beis Din of Sighet shlit"a. Kol Mekadesh: Rabbi Mordechai Yuda Halberstam shlit"a. Menucha V'Simcha: Rabbi Avrohom Rokeach shlit"a.

The Rebbe shlit"a said Torah on the verse "Re'eh anochi nosein lifneichem hayom brachah" ("See, I place before you today a blessing") and explained in a derush that by conducting oneself with humility, a person finds comfort in the world for which he was created.

Kah Echsof: his grandson Rabbi Chaim Shlomo Horowitz shlit"a. Birkas Hamazon: HaGaon Rabbi Efraim Zalman Sternbuch shlit"a, son of the Posek HaDor, Mara d'Asra of Eretz Yisroel shlit"a.

Stories and anecdotes: this week the Rebbe shlit"a spoke at length about his uncle, the Rebbe, the holy Divrei Yoel zy"a, whose yahrzeit was this past Sunday, 26 Menachem Av.

Kah Ribon Olam: his grandson Rabbi Chaim Hersh Teitelbaum shlit"a of Rotzfert. The newlywed grooms went around taking fruit, and for Yom HaShevi'i: Rabbi Chaim, son of Rabbi Avrohom Meir Halberstam shlit"a. The tish ended at around 1:25.

Uvayom HaShabbos Kodesh

On Shabbos Kodesh morning the Rebbe shlit"a came into the beis medrash at around 9:40. Pesukei D'Zimra: R' Boruch Ilowitz (Bnei Brak). The Rebbe went to the amud for Shacharis.

Hotzaah and Hachnasah of the Torah: R' Yehuda Rosenfeld (Williamsburg). The pesukim of Shema Yisroel: R' Yaakov Elimelech Rosmann (Bnei Brak).

Aliyos. Kohen: R' Yechiel Rubin — the Rebbe called him up on the occasion of the birth of his daughter, mazel tov. Levi: R' Efraim Moshe Lowy (Bnei Brak). Shlishi: HaGaon R' Efraim Zalman Sternbuch shlit"a. Revi'i: R' Yitzchok Eizik Weiss (Bnei Brak). Chamishi: the chassan, the bochur Yoshe Yakov. Shishi: the Rebbe shlit"a.

After his aliyah, the Rebbe shlit"a recited the Mi Sheberach and named the baby girl on the occasion of the birth of a daughter to:

The Rebbe shlit"a blessed Rosh Chodesh with great arousal and went to the amud for Musaf in honor of the holy hilula. Opening of Ane'im Zemiros: R' Yitzchok Stein (Williamsburg).

After davening a bris took place for the newborn son of R' Yosef Binyomin Weiss (Williamsburg), at which the Rebbe was sandek. It ended at around 12:55.

In the afternoon at around 7:10 the Rebbe came into the beis medrash for Pirkei Avos. The Rebbe stood on Perek 5, Mishnah 18: "Kol hamezakeh es harabim ein cheit ba al yado; Moshe zachah v'zikah es harabim, zechus harabim talui bo" ("Whoever causes the masses to merit, no sin comes through him; Moshe merited and brought merit to the masses, the merit of the masses is attributed to him"), and explained it in 13 ways in the manner of derush, aggadah and mussar. At the end he exhorted everyone to cling to the attributes of truth and distance themselves from the attributes of falsehood. The days of Elul are coming, which must be used for teshuvah and rectifying one's deeds. He repeated from the holy R' Pinchas'l of Koritz zy"a that a liar cannot do teshuvah, and concluded with abundant blessings. It ended at around 8:00 and the Rebbe went into his private room.

The Rebbe came in for Mincha and Shalosh Seudos at around 8:25. Mincha: R' Yerachmiel Wolf Fried. Hotzaah and Hachnasah: R' Asaf Wohlberg (Boro Park). Kohen: R' Zusha HaKohen Rubin (Williamsburg). Levi: R' Shalom Yosef Levinger. Shlishi: the Rebbe's grandson Rabbi Chaim Hersh Teitelbaum shlit"a of Rotzfert. Hagbah: the Rebbe shlit"a. Gelilah: R' Binyomin Friedman (Bnei Brak).

The Rebbe honored people with the zemiros at Shalosh Seudos. Odeh: R' Noach Gefen. Shir HaMaalos: R' Moshe Goldstein.

The Rebbe shlit"a said Torah on the verse "Re'eh anochi nosein lifneichem hayom brachah" and explained that throughout the year, to merit hearing the voice of Hashem and be aroused to teshuvah, one must be especially worthy, but in the month of Elul, through the sound of the shofar, everyone is able to hear the voice of Hashem. He concluded with words of arousal for Chodesh Elul, that one should use the hours of this month for teshuvah and rectifying one's deeds.

The Rebbe shlit"a went to the amud for Maariv of Motzei Shabbos and recited Kaddish in honor of the holy hilula.

After Havdalah the congregation went over to wish a gutte voch. It ended at around 10:45.
