"And the gold of the waving offering…" Thirty Million Dollars

The Nobles of the Nations Have Gathered

A historic, lavish banquet took place today, Monday, Parshas Pinchas, for the building fund of the new magnificent Tel Talpiyot building of our holy kehilla and its mosdos in the holy city of Yerushalayim, which stands under the leadership of the Satmar Rebbe shlit"a.

The event took place in the home of the builder and establisher of worlds of Torah, the distinguished philanthropist R' Akiva Hersh Klein, after, for weeks, he and the other members of the building fund committee, the distinguished philanthropists R' Avrohom Brach, R' Avrohom Yoshe Glantz of Yerushalayim, and R' Yechezkel Dovid Berkowitz, went around from door to door of benefactors, accompanied personally by the Rebbe's gabbai R' Chaim Shlomo Fischer. Today was the designated day on which the thirty-five Yidden who are among the foremost in the Satmar kingdom came to take part and signed a partnership document together with the Rebbe shlit"a, to be partners in the thirty-million-dollar building.

The Rebbe shlit"a arrived at the event at around 7:30. A rich seudah had been prepared in a truly splendid manner.

The chairman of the event, R' Mordechai Elazar Hirsch, expressed in brief, eloquent words the purpose of the event and its historic nature, and then called upon the distinguished guest, R' Yissocher Yakov, director of our holy mosdos in the holy city of Yerushalayim, who flew in specially for this exalted event, and who conveyed to the public the state of our holy kehilla and its mosdos, especially after the bitter fire that struck there.

Between the speeches and the beautiful songs, the philanthropists went up one by one to sign the documents together with the Rebbe shlit"a.

Afterwards the chairman called upon the Rav, the Av Beis Din and Rosh Yeshiva shlit"a, who had just returned from a trip to Eretz Yisroel where the Rav shlit"a spent a Shabbos in the holy city. The Rav shlit"a conveyed a greeting from the members of our community in Eretz Yisroel in general and in Yerushalayim in particular, and spoke of the merit the partners have in building this great and holy building. The Rav shlit"a especially praised the members of the new building fund committee, who have devoted themselves with heart and soul to its success, and particularly the Rebbe's gabbai R' Chaim Shlomo, and concluded with abundant blessings.

Afterwards the chairman called on and welcomed all the philanthropists who had already signed up to that point, and called upon the distinguished philanthropist R' Meir Hirsch, who has been connected to Yerushalayim for many years, and noted that for years he has been covering the deficit and paying the mortgage of the building, which was on the verge of being lost.

R' Meir Hirsch, who is known as one who both preaches well and fulfills well, was the first to go up and sign the document with the Rebbe shlit"a, and then he rose and called for working in unity, and just as money was gathered here from the entire crowd all together, so too should everyone work together until the building stands and becomes an honor to the Satmar kingdom. He also welcomed the members of the building fund committee who devoted themselves so greatly, and especially the host, the distinguished philanthropist R' Akiva Hersh Klein.

The chairman then spoke of the Rebbe shlit"a's connection to the members of the community in the holy city of Yerushalayim, and welcomed the members of the administration appointed by the Rebbe shlit"a in Yerushalayim, namely R' Yissocher Yakov, R' Yisroel Mordechai Felberbaum, R' Nosson Binyamin Roth, and R' Yoshe Klein, two of whom came out specially for the event.

He also specifically welcomed R' Gershon Felberbaum, the well-known askan who arranges all the bureaucratic matters. It was mentioned how, wonder upon wonder, after years in which nothing moved, suddenly everything began to move, and with the kindness of Hashem, Yisbarach Shemo, the permits have already been obtained and the construction work has already begun on the enormous site.
Then the chairman declared, regarding the verse "and they declared their lineage after Aharon," that the reason the crowd gave such large donations with such fiery enthusiasm is all because of the Rebbe shlit"a, and the Rebbe himself also committed to bringing a million dollars, and already at this event brought the first one hundred thousand dollars.

Among the volunteers, three naming merits were reserved at the event.

The naming merit of the beis medrash building, the "Rosenberg Building," was purchased by the family of R' Yitzchak Rosenberg a"h and his brother R' Avrohom Yuda.

The naming merit of the talmud torah building, the "Yechezkel Brach Building," was purchased by the grandchildren of R' Yechezkel Brach a"h, director of our holy mosdos in Yerushalayim for many years, namely the distinguished philanthropist R' Shmuel Chaim Brach and his son R' Avrohom Brach and his son R' Yechezkel Shraga Brach, R' Avrohom Yoshe Heshel HaKohen Glantz, and R' Yuda Weiss.

The merit of the mikvah was reserved by the host, the distinguished philanthropist R' Akiva Hersh Klein and his partner R' Meir Yaakov Indig.

Altogether, an astronomical, fantastic sum of over 30 million dollars was raised from the generous hearts of members of our community, with contributions of a million dollars and more, namely:

The Rebbe shlit"a then delivered holy words about our connection to Yerushalayim, and that when a person gives money there, his aspiration is there, because "our feet were standing in Yerushalayim." The Rebbe shlit"a then wished abundant blessings to all the philanthropists and especially to the host, R' Akiva Hersh, and said that one cannot express the emotions of the heart that such a thing is happening, that around 35 Yidden come and give such large sums; this is no simple matter and it is an awesome merit. The Rebbe then concluded with a complete blessing to the entire public, each and every one, with good influences and all good, selah.

The day of Monday, Parshas Pinchas 5783 will enter the history of the Satmar kingdom as the day on which the philanthropists of the Satmar kehilla gathered together such an astronomical figure in a single day, in order to begin and, b'ezras Hashem, complete the mighty center in the holy city of Yerushalayim.
