Report
Monday, 26 Nissan — the yahrzeit of the Beirach Moshe zy"a

The Satmar Rebbe shlit"a davened Shacharis in the main beis medrash together with hundreds of yeshiva students. Before davening, the Rebbe put on tefillin for the bar mitzvah bochur, the bochur Chanoch Abeles.

The Rebbe shlit"a lit 5 candles and led the davening as shliach tzibbur with great outpouring of the soul, and recited the Kaddishim in honor of the yahrzeit. During the Torah reading, the Rebbe was called up as Shlishi.

After davening, a lechayim gathering took place before the ascent to the holy kever. Songs of inspiration were sung, the Rebbe drank lechayim and wished holy blessings upon the entire kehilla, and delivered words of preparation before the ascent. The Rebbe based his words on the verse "Achor v'kedem tzarasenu" ("Behind and before is our distress") and explained it in the teachings of the Baal Hahilula. He then spoke about sending bochurim to Eretz Yisroel, noting that the problem begins already with sending them to yeshiva ketana, and mentioned the decrees against chinuch. He wished that "they shall not harm nor destroy in all My holy mountain," and concluded with abundant blessings.

After the lechayim gathering, at around 12:15, the Rebbe shlit"a went up to visit the holy kever together with a large crowd.
Upon arriving at the cemetery, the Rebbe recited the blessing of Mechayei HaMeisim. The Rebbe entered the holy ohel and lit 5 candles with a neshama candle. The Rebbe recited with great inspiration the prayer "Shalom Aleichem" of the Yismach Moshe zy"a, then recited the chapters of Tehillim from 90 until 107 as is customary, followed by the Yehi Ratzon and Kaddish, and then learned mishnayos and recited Kaddish D'Rabbanan. The Rebbe read the kvitelach at the holy kever while the assembled sang songs of inspiration that used to be sung in the beis medrash of the Baal Hahilula zy"a. Afterwards the Rebbe shlit"a prostrated himself upon the holy kever for an extended time and prayed for all good for us and for all Israel. It concluded at around 1:15.

In the afternoon at around 7:30, the Rebbe shlit"a davened Mincha in his holy home. Before davening, the Rebbe lit 5 candles and approached the amud in honor of the holy yahrzeit.

At around 8:20 the Rebbe shlit"a entered the main beis medrash for the first time for the hilula seudah. The Rebbe washed for the seudah, and then made a siyum on the six orders of Mishnah and a siyum on Shas, which had been learned by the members of the kehilla for the yahrzeit, and recited Kaddish.
After the fish, the Rebbe wished lechayim to the entire kehilla, saying "May his merit protect us and all Israel." Throughout the entire tish, songs of deveikus and longing were sung that used to be sung in the beis medrash of the Baal Hahilula zy"a. The Rebbe honored HaGaon R' Baruch Weiss shlit"a with Michtam L'Dovid.
The Rebbe shlit"a then delivered holy words in the teachings of the Baal Hahilula, and spoke of his good memory and his path of holiness in the service of Hashem through the three pillars of the world, his diligence and spreading of Torah to students, his warm, fervent prayers and sweet, fiery sermons. He was the father and teacher of Israel in all matters, brought about salvations for Jewish children, and was a merciful father to broken hearts, a focal point to whom everyone turned, yet "V'Moshe haya anav me'od" — Moshe was exceedingly humble — with tremendous extra humility. He waged the war of Hashem, particularly against the impurity of Zionism, and expanded the boundaries of holiness in quantity and quality. There is an obligation to remember his deeds and to do everything he taught us.

The Rebbe then spoke at length about our stronghold, "Kiryas Joel" rabbasi am, may it be preserved, about the holy aspiration and heartfelt desire of the founder of the city, the Divrei Yoel zy"a, to establish the settlement of Kiryas Joel outside the city, with the goal of "Hen am levadad yishkon" — to be separated from the gentile street and also from the Jewish street that has different views and customs, particularly with regard to Zionism. Only people of his following, his students, who are subservient to him in all matters, were to live there. He gave the town the name Kiryas Joel for his name and memory; his name is stamped upon it, and his merit protects the settlement, and is also a segulah to keep strangers from wanting to come live here. The power of holiness has no boundary: everyone who lives in all the areas around Kiryas Joel lives in Kiryas Joel. There is an obligation to conduct oneself as a resident of Kiryas Joel according to all the directives of the founder of Kiryas Joel zy"a, and whoever does not want to live in Kiryas Joel should not come to live in the surrounding areas either; everything is Kiryas Joel.
The Rebbe explained with sharp and clear words that all the areas where Kiryas Joel has spread are part of Kiryas Joel, and any area here is not like any other town. Certainly one must stand guard not to introduce any custom or directives of one's own against the will and wishes of the founder of the city. The Rebbe stated clearly that his uncle, the Divrei Yoel zy"a, founded the Jewish settlement of Kiryas Joel, but did not found the Village of Kiryas Joel; Kiryas Joel is not limited to the village boundaries, but everything around it is Kiryas Joel, "v'haya machaneinu kadosh." The merit of the uncle z"l will protect all residents, old and new, and from the implication of the positive, you derive the negative — a stern warning to those who breach the fence. "I want to warn them: Hizaharu b'gachalto shelo tichbeh" — be careful with his ember that it not be extinguished. This is a dangerous matter; the uncle z"l was very particular and will not forgive them.
The Rebbe asked the members of the kehilla living in the surrounding areas to call those areas by the name Kiryas Joel, "Amira lagavoha kimsira lahedyot" — speech to the Above is like handing over to a commoner — and through this holy abundance will rest upon all these places, and it awakens his great merit with excellent protection.

At the end of his words, the Rebbe mentioned the strong and firm bond that his father, the Baal Hahilula zy"a, had with Kiryas Joel, and spoke about the Kollel Eitz Chaim which he founded in honor and memory of his father, the Eitz Chaim zy"a, and which today is headed by his brother, the Rebbe, Av Beis Din of our kehilla in Boro Park 15 shlit"a, who bears the burden with faithfulness and dedication, and that one must see to help out in whatever way possible. He concluded with abundant blessings for the entire kehilla.

For Birkas Hamazon, the Rebbe honored his brother, HaGaon Av Beis Din of our kehilla in Boro Park 15 shlit"a.

After the hilula seudah, the Rebbe shlit"a davened Maariv in Cheder Avrohom Yuda and approached the amud for Sefiras HaOmer. It concluded at around 11:00.

May his great and holy merit protect us and all Israel
