On the first day, the Rebbe spoke of the bitter epidemic, when sadly, last year, no one knew "who will live and who will die," and sadly we are in need of abundant Heavenly mercy. His words moved the thousands of Yidden to weeping

On the second day, among other words of chizuk, the Rebbe noted that the mitzvah of blowing the shofar is performed with one's breath, and certain blasts are invalid if blown with two breaths. "The special power of this mitzvah is to protect against illnesses that spread through the air"
